This early morning I could not sleep
So I just watched out for day to
break;
The sun was so red, I know the clouds
would weep
Before the sheep, their lambkins could
take
Over the meadows for feed and back
again.
How good one feels again when the good
warm rain
Starts pounding on the ground again to
awaken
The bulbs and ferns and jonquils
opening
In the cold breeze moving to and
fro.
My such a sight for all weaklings here
below.
My such a wonderful sight,
Through your window panes the passing
of
God's word once again
Over the grand domain.
Just to have some try to doubt,
Or argue and curse in vain,
Not realizing if it wasn't for the
rain
The sun once more waiting to shine,
God to guard us and send forth
These of all blessings He is behind
We, the poorer of the poor
Would need no beds or open doors;
To watch for seasons' changes.
Or search for violets or ferns,
Or watch for the birds' return.
Soon, Easter in her beauty
Will return to make a show
Dressed in her spring finery
With gayest of greens and colors
glow.
And the resurrection relived once
again.
God in all his glory with angels, to
sing
"peace on earth, good will to men."
Let the anthem ring;
Hoping the war is ending;
Praying for peace again.
