Creative Writing
Class Description
This course stresses daily writing, peer critiques and published
pieces. The genre include: children's books, poetry, short fiction
and critical analysis.
Objectives
- Students can effectively use fictional, dramatic,
and poetic techniques in writing.
- Students can experiment with stylistic elements
such as voice, tone and style.
- Students can recognize and author's point of view,
purpose, and historical and cultural context.
- Students can determine literary quality based on
elements such as the author's use of vocabulary, character development, plot
development, of setting, and realism of dialogue.
