English 1 extends student comprehension
skills through varied literary genre; reinforces writing as a process; develops
vocabulary; and reviews thinking, grammar, usage, and mechanics skills.
Objectives:
1. Students read and understand a variety of materials. |
2. Students write and speak for a variety of purposes and audiences |
3. Students write and speak using conventional grammar, usage, sentence structure, punctuation, capitalization, and spelling. |
4. Students apply thinking skills to their reading, writing, speaking, listening, and viewing. |
5. Students read to locate, select, and make use of relevant information from a variety of media, reference, and technological sources. |
Policies:
Cheating | A student taking answers from
another student receives a "0" for that assignment/test. The student allowing the answer to be "lifted" also gets a "0". |
Late Assignments |
All class work is due at the beginning of the class period. 10% is lost for each class day that the assignment is not submitted. |
Class Tardies |
Three unexcused (no note) result in a demerit. |
