II. Prayers

The Sign of the Cross
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen

The Glory Be
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.  As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without  end. Amen

The Our Father
Our Father, who art in heaven, hollowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  Amen.

The Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace!  The Lord is with you.  Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.  Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.  Amen

The Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known, that anyone who fled to your protection, implored you help or sought you intercession was left unaided.  Inspired with this confidence I fly to you, O Virgin of virgins, our Mother.  To you we come, before you we kneel, sinful and sorrowful O mother of the Word made flesh, do not despise our petitions, but, in your mercy, hear and answer them.  Amen

The Magnificat (Mary's Prayer)
My being proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit finds joy in God my savior.  For he has looked upon his servant in all her lowliness; all ages to come shall call me blessed.  God who is mighty has done great things for me, holy is his name.  His mercy is from age to age on those who fear him.  He has shown might with his arm; he has confused the proud in their inmost thoughts.  He has deposed the mighty from their thrones and raised the lowly to high places.  The hungry he has given every good thing while the rich he has sent empty away.  He has upheld Israel his servant, ever mindful of his mercy, even as he promised our fathers, promised Abraham and his descendants forever.

The Angelus
The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary and she conceived by the Holy Spirit.

       Hail, Mary, full of grace....

Behold the handmaid of the Lord.  Be it done to me according to your word.

       Hail, Mary, full of grace....

And the Word was made flesh and made his dwelling among us.

       Hail, Mary, full of grace....

Pray for us, holy Mother of God, that we may be worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray:  Pour out your grace into our hearts.  Lord, by the message of the angel, we have learned of the Incarnation of Christ, your Son. Lead us by his passion and cross to the glory of the resurrection.  Through the same Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Morning Offering
My God, I offer you my prayers, works and sufferings of this day for all the intentions of your most Sacred Heart. Amen.

Morning prayer
God my father, I give you today all that I think and do and say.  I’ll work and study, have fun and pray.  Jesus be with me all through the day.  Amen.

Act of Faith
O my God, I firmly believe that you are one God in three divine Persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit; I believe that Your divine Son became man and died for our sins, and that He will come to judge the living dead.  I believe these truths which the holy Catholic Church teaches, because you revealed them, who can neither deceive nor be deceived.

Act of Hope
O my God relying on Your infinite mercy and promises, I hope to obtain pardon of my sins, the help of Your grace and life everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer.

Act of Love
O my God, I love You above all things, with my whole heart and soul, because You are all good and deserving of all my love.  I love my neighbor as myself for the love of You.  I forgive all who have injured me and ask pardon of all whom I injured.

Prayer Before a Meal
Bless us, o Lord, and these Your gifts which we are about to relieve from Your bounty, through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Prayer After a Meal
We give you thanks, God, for these and all Your gifts, which we have relieved, through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Act of Contrition
My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.  In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good I have sinned against You and whom I should love above all things.  I firmly intend, with Your help, to do penance, to sin no more, and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.  Our savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us.  I his name, my God, have mercy.

Confiteor
I confess to almighty and to You, my brother and sisters, that I have sinned through my own fault, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do.  And I ask blessed Mary, ever virgin, all the angles and saints, and You, my brother and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.  May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to life everlasting.  Amen.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful and kindle in them the fire of Your love.  Send forth Your spirit, o Lord, and they shall be created and You shall renew the face of the earth.  Amen.

Prayer of St. Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.  Where there is hatred, let me sow love.  Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is drought, faith.  Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness, joy.  O master, grant that I may not seek so much to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in giving that we receive, is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.

Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd there is nothing I shall want. In verdant pastures he gives me repose; beside restful waters he leads me; he refreshes my soul. He guides me in my right path for name’s sake. Even though I walk in the dark valley I fear no evil; for you are at my side with your rod and staff that give me courage. You spread the table before me in the sight of my foes; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Only goodness and kindness follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord for years to come.
