November 3rd - Bombers win 29-24

Scoring for the Bombers: Chrissie, Jessica, and Ashley with 2 points each. Lauren and Erin putting up 4 points each. Natalie adding 7 of those points, and Laura with a whopping 8 points! The entire team worked great together on defense, going after jump balls, snagging rebounds and even a few steals - a great way to start off the season ladies, keep it up!!!

November 10th - Bombers win 35-4

A very impressive game against Jordan School. The whole team saw a lot of playing time and worked hard for a bunch of jump balls, steals, and breakaways. An amazing job on defense, only allowing the opponent to score two baskets! This brings the ladies to an excellent ranking of 4 and O. Keep it up!

November 8th-10th - Saber Shootout Tournament

For the first of tournament play for the Bombers this season, the girls are looking pretty sharp. Friday night the girls went on to defeat Dewitt in a nail bitting finish of 29 - 28. Saturday, the Bombers faced the girls of Preston, Iowa but had no trouble handling them. The game ended in a huge victory for the Bombers, 50 - 10 heading them in to the championship game against the evil Moline Maroons Sunday afternoon. Bettendorf played hard but struggled to come up on top and ended the tournament with second place and a big glimmering trophy. Final score - Bombers 22- Moline 42. Don't worry Bombers, you'll get em next time!

November 17th - Bombers lose 8-28

In a grueling match up against the Lady Knights, the Bombers put in an aggressive effort but came up short in the end. Assumption made some lucky baskets while the Bombers had trouble getting shots to fall in the first half. By the second half, the girls were ready to go and put some points on the board but couldn't catch up to the Knights. A tough loss but have no fear, the Bombers will be back!

November 24th - Bombers lose 14 - 21

It was a hard loss for the Bombers today. The team faced up against Riverdale in a close game. The Bombers were able to score 14 points on their opponent though. Ashley contributed one point; Natalie, Shelby, and Laura put up two points each; Chrissie had three points and Meghan was the high scorer for the game with four points. Let's get fired up for the tournament this weekend Bombers! Good luck!

November 29th-30th - St. Paul's Thanksgiving Shootout

The Bombers had a tough playing schedule this weekend, barely long enough for them to digest their turkey properly. The Bombers had a tough time waking themselves up for the 8am game and unfortunately started the tournament off with a loss, 5-23. But by noon, the Bombers were ready to play and came out with vengeance off of their last game. The game against the Seton was a picture perfect game. Every one of the girls was out there playing their hearts out and putting up some nice stats! Jessica came out hard and put two points on the board for the Bombers. Natalie made a steal and had two rebounds. Ashley had a great game with a rebound, a jumpball and a steal. Mackenzie was working hard with two points, a steal, and a jump ball. Chrissie fought her way for a basket and a rebound. Meghan dropped a cool two points in for the Bombers. Lauren contributed with two points a jump ball and two steals. Shelby ended up making two points and snatching two rebounds. Erin had a great game with one rebound, a whopping three jump balls and four points. And Miss Laura led the Bombers in scoring with six points and two steals. The final score but Bettendorf on top 22 - 18! The game Saturday, the Bomber's found themselves up against the Moline Maroons in their second match up with them this season. The girls weren't afraid though and came out playing hard and had a much better game against them than the first time. Meghan scored a free throw for the Bombers, and Laura and Shelby added two points each. The game ended 21 - 5. Just remember, third time is a charm and those Maroons better watch their step!

December 1st - Bombers win double headers!

In League play the Bombers were up for two games. The first against Erie and the second against the girls of Pleasant Valley. First game against Erie, the game started out slow with only three points before the half. But by the second half, the girls were on fire. Laura scored a total of seven points, Shelby scored two points, Lauren scored two points, Ashley scored on two free throws and a bucket, and Natalie came up with two points in the end. Erin had the game scoring high with ten points. Lauren was also busy crashing the boards as she pulled down some excellent rebounds. Game score 27-20 Bombers! Game two against arch rivals the PV Hotshots. The girls came out with defense on their minds! Everyone had a great game! Laura, Lauren, Natalie, Chrissie, and Shelby were really putting some tough moves against PV. Natalie scored four points, Chrissie also put in four, Lauren had two points, Erin made one of two free throws, and Laura had the game high with seven points again. That gave the Bombers 18 and PV 9! So after an exhaustive weekend the Bombers came out winning three of their five games! Awesome job ladies, keep it up!

December 8th - Bombers win 28 - 12

It was a cold blustery day outside, but inside the Blackhawk gym, the Bombers were hot! Today the Bombers went face to face with the Pleasant Valley Spartans. The girls had no trouble handling them and came out victorious, 28-12. Jessica scored one for the Bombers on a free throw, Natalie and Chrissie each put two on the board, Lauren, Laura, and Shelby each contributed four points and Erin came out top scorer with eleven points! Wonderful job ladies, keep it up!!!

December 15 - Bombers win 26-22

The Bombers faced Sherrard this Sunday. The ladies of Sherrard may have been tall but they were no match for the Bombers. Besides playing tough defense, many of the girls also had a great scoring day too. Shelby, Erin, and Meghan each put in a basket, Chrissie and Lauren each knocked down four points and Laura and Natalie tied for high scorers with six points a piece. Today we had a double mvp between Laura and Chrissie, great job ladies!

December 21st - Seton Tournament

In an early morning game the Bomber's came out to find a much more awake Seton Team and could just never recover by the end. Seton came out on top 8 to 21 in the Final. Meghan had four points while Lauren and Laura each had two. But the loss didn't get the girls down as they came out and pounded the Lady Knights 31 to 24. Both Lauren and Shelby put up ten points, Laura had six, Natalie and Chrissie had two and Mackenzie hit a free throw to add one. Then in final game against East Moline, the girls still came out hard and grinded out a win 24 to 23. Shelby had nine points, Laura had eight, Natalie had six and again Mackenzie knocked down another free throw for one. What an effort!

December 22 - Bombers win 41-4

The Bombers had to play the other Bettendorf team this Sunday at Blackhawk and showed them just who was top dog in B-Town. Bomber's gave them a beating with Miss Chrissie scoring a game high of ten points, Meghan, Erin and Natalie tossing up six, Shelby and Laura adding four and Lauren and Ashley adding two. What a way to wrap it up girls!

December 27th-29th - Hoop It Up

The Bombers faced three tough teams during Bettendorf's own Hoop It Up Tournament. The girls faced up to Dewitt Red and came up with the win 19 to 5. Chrissie was high scorer with eight points, Lauren had six, Erin and Jessica both added two. Dewitt Purple faced off with the Bomber's in the second game and the Bombers came out with there second win. North Scott was the thrid opponent for our Bomber's. The girls played tough with Laura scoring a high of twelve points, Lauren and Natalie added four and Shelby and Erin had two. A great showing and a great way to represent Bettendorf - good job ladies.

January 3rd-4th - Optimist Club Tournament

Bomber's started off the New Year with a win against the Twisters - 19 to 3. Iowa City Green was next to face our girls. Though they played tough, they fell short in the end with a loss 18 to 25. Meghan and Chrissie each had three points while Erin, Shelby and Natalie all contributed four points. But they wouldn't stay behind for long, in their next game against Iowa City Gold, the girls showed them whose boss and ended up victorious with a 19-18 victory. Chrissie put up five points, Natalie had four, Erin and Shelby had three and Laura and Mackenzie had two. Nice Job!

January 5th - Bombers win 12-11

Bettendorf squeeked by with the win in the Alleman League 12 to 11. Natalie had one point, Erin, Lauren and Meghan had two points and Chrissie had four, including the game winning free throw! (I'm missing someone's point so let me know who else scored so I can give them the credit they deserve!) Great Job Ladies!

January 12th - Bombers win 15-13

Adding another victory to their season, Bettendorf beat the Lady Knights white. Erin, Natalie, and Shelby had three points and Meghan, Lauren and Ashley all had two points.

January 19th - Bombers win 24-23

They knew their time would come when they would get a rematch against the girls of Seton - today was the day! The Bomber's came out looking for revenge - they knew it would be difficult since they were down three players to the flu but that didn't slow them down. The girls came in and took control of the court. Laura came out strong and put up three points, the very aggressive Shelby knocked down nine points, and the unstopable Chrissie had an amazing 12 point game. Meghan, MacKenzie, and Natalie all put up a good fight on defense and helping out their teammates. Great game girls - way to show them how you can play!

February 2nd - Bombers win 30-8

In a HUGE victory this Sunday, our girls showed no mercy for the Cambridge girls. Meghan hit a free throw to contribute one point, Lauren and Erin each knocked down four points, Laura scored six, Chrissie coming alive in the fourth scored six, and Natalie had a game high with nine! It may be cold outside but the Bomber's are RED HOT!

February 9,16,& 23 - Bombers win last three in a row

The individual data for these games is currently missing but is a well know fact that the Bombers took all three of these games by a good margin.

This concludes the 2002-2003 season for the Bettendorf Bombers. It has been exciting to watch the girls as they fumbled through their first few games to seeing them excel as individuals and more importantly as a team in the end. The Bombers ended their season with a fantastic 23-7 record. Check back next fall for the return of the Bombers!
