Injured reserve (IR) -- Players are not eligible to return to the active/inactive list and cannot practice with a team in the same season they are reserved.

Physically unable to perform (PUP) -- Players are eligible to return six weeks into the regular season. Teams then have three weeks to decide whether to activate these players or keep them in reserve for the rest of the season.

December 12, 2008  According to Colts.com - The Colts could decide to sit running back Joseph Addai against the winless Lions this Sunday. Addai missed practice this week with a shoulder injury, and head coach Tony Dungy said on Thursday that he could hold his top runner out this weekend. "My sense is we'll probably hold him out if there's any question at all," Dungy said. "He wants to play. Right now, it's questionable. We'll see how it is." Colts LB Brackett to sit out Sunday Colts linebacker Gary Brackett will miss his second straight game Sunday with a cracked bone in his lower right leg. Brackett, the team's defensive captain, leads the team with 113 tackles. Linebacker Tyjuan Hagler will miss the game against the winless Detroit Lions with a knee injury. Running back Joseph Addai did not participate in Friday's practice and is questionable with a right shoulder injury. Safety Bob Sanders also is listed as questionable with a knee injury, but he fully participated in practice. Center Jeff Saturday, who has missed two straight games since straining his left calf, was not listed on the injury report. Coach Tony Dungy said Saturday could have played last week against the Bengals, but they decided to hold him out.
