2005 NATIONAL SCOUT JAMBOREE HAWKEYE AREA COUNCIL CONTINGENT
Travel: July 19 – August 4, 2005

Welcome to the 2005 National Jamboree official web site for the Hawkeye Area Council. The 2005 National Scout Jamboree is located in Fort A. P. Hill, Virginia, near the towns of Fredericksburg and Bowling Green.

We will travel to Washington, DC by bus and will stay at a hotel for 5 nights. During our stay in the nation’s capital, we will tour the Smithsonian Institution, the Capitol Building, the Washington Monument plus other attractions such as FBI Headquarters, the Vietnam War Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the White House and the Holocaust Museum. Also being planned is a day trip to a nearby attraction such as the Gettysburg Battlefield, Historic Williamsburg or the Atlantic Coast. On July 24th we will be bussed to the Jamboree site at Ft. A.P. Hill, Virginia, and will camp there until August 3rd. We plan to arrive back in Cedar Rapids on August 4th.

We are very excited about attending the 2005 National Scout Jamboree. We plan to accomplish the mission of the Jamboree which is "to deliver a memorable, once in a lifetime experience to scouts and scouters that will reinforce the values of the BSA". It's going to be a memorable and exciting two weeks for all of us.

RECRUITMENT POLICY
The jamboree is open to all qualified and approved Scouts on a first-come basis. After our troops have been filled, a stand-by list of alternates will be established. Scouts will be placed in one of three jamboree troops consisting of 36 scouts and 4 adult leaders. Each Scout will be a member of a patrol within one of the troops. The fee for attending the 2005 Jamboree will be $1,300*. Please review the Payment Schedule.

*The Jamboree fee is based on estimated travel expenses. If this amount is not correct, we will adjust the total Jamboree fee accordingly.
