Attendees: Tom Cleveland, Nathan Clark, Gary McClure, Dick Eyman, Charley Knudsen, Jeanne West, Bruce Hamous, Susan Cunningham, Gene Fields, Aaron Randolph Jr., Bob Manchester, Walt Gorbatjuk, David Meiners, Rich Yoder, Chuck Buckingham Pat Buckingham and David Cunningham.
Recruiting
Recruiting more help: Job of whole committee.
Contact Randy Shimon for help with housing role.
Contact Rich Yoder for “Sergeant at Arms” Role
Members of Jamboree Committee to help with roles. Most of these are not the job of a single person.
Add last year’s staff to email list to keep them informed and as a source of help.
Contact Terry Wightman for list of staff.
Send minutes to Nancy Grubb to be posted on website.
Link Council website to Jamboree Site.
Housing and Transportation (Gary McClure)
Contacted travel agent; airfares are set a max of one year ahead.
Jamboree dates July 25 – August 3, 2005.
Contingent trip to leave July 19 or 20 and return August 4 or 5.
Check on bus cost and trip length.
Will check on housing without using travel agent.
Promotion (Bruce Hamous)
Get “Hold-a-Place” form out (Jeanne West to input data to Word).
Get leader application form out.
Patches – looked at General Mills but nothing as recognizable as Capt’n.
Will look at Capt’n again.
Fund Raiser
Special popcorn sales for Jamboree participants?
Committee discussion lead to the conclusion this is not necessary because most troops allow Scouts to use funds raised at Troop to be used for Jamboree.
Check with Council Service Center for Jamboree package at Scout Shop.
Issues from Sept meeting
· Gateway Standards.
o Standards and inspector to be established. Suggested Jeptha Randolph.
· Alternative transportation.
o To be covered by Gary McClure.
· Chairman’s potential leadership roles at Jamboree?
o Same process as all potential leaders.
· Contingent Coordinator application or appointment?
o Same process as leadership and at same time to allow familiarization with
Troops and leadership and to know trip requirements.
· Side trips
o Gary McClure to search.
· Contingent Troop Leadership experience.
o Used in leadership selection process.
· Advance notification of Congressmen and Senators.
o Contingent coordinator responsibility.
· Number of Contingent Troops.
o Three Troops suggested and discussed.
o Vote called for. Voice vote by committee for three Troops in contingent.
· Equipment stencil day.
