this is the group I hand out with a lot here. From left to right: Carolina, Caroline, Candice, Jules, Jesse, and Niki.
Saturday we had one of those free weekend trips IAU provides. We went to Luberon. I had no idea what we were going to see or why we would be going there. Aparently some author wrote all about it...if you want some background info on the place check out this link:
Luberon Details
I didnt really like it that much, we left aix at 8:45 in the morning, drove for a while, stopped in this little town where it was pretty cold (frost on the ground) and they told us to buy supplies for a picnic. we were kinda confused because who picnic's when it's so cold. instead of buying food for a picnic, nick, nicole, amy, and I (tufts crew) went into a cafe and and ate. I had a ham and butter sandwich(basically a stick of butter with some ham in it, way too much butter) after the cafe we got on the bus and went to another small town where we were supposed to picnic. I didnt want to sit out side so i followed niki, caroline, jules, candace, and LG to a pizza joint where they all ate pizza. After the pizza joint we walked to the top of the town took some pictures and then got back on the bus. after riding the bus some more we stopped and looked at some town from a cliff. We then got back on the bus and went to another small town.
I dont know if you're catching onto any theme here, but we saw a lot of small towns that just werent that cool. it could have been because it's cold and tourism is out of season, but the trip just wasnt too spectaclur for me.
We then began our 2 hour bus ride home where there were police motorcycles near the bus stop where we got off, aparently we had just missed an anti-bush/anti-war rally.
This is Ila and Langhorne. I made plans to go skiing with Amy but she did not make it to the bus on time it left at 6am. These gals happened to be going on the same trip.
Map of Vars
I was walking home after class on friday and i ran into Amy who asked me if i wanted to go skiing sunday, and since i hate sunday's here (everything is closed) i said sure and i went and signed up.
I woke up at 5 oclock on Sunday to leave, I could not wake fred up because he apparently had stayed out at the bars until 4:30...he was dead alseep, i even shook him. So i ran to the bus station at 5:30. Amy never showed up for the bus and i was really kinda starting to think i might be spending the day skiing alone, but luckily for me Langhorn and Ila from my school were going.
this was Langhorn's first time skiing so right away i split up from them and took the gondola to the top. At the top of the moutain it was snowing windy and freezing. i was beeing such a wuss, i went from the top to the bottom then went inside to warm up. after sitting inside for a while, i went back skiing with Ila where we proceeded to get really really lost. the ski passes we had worked with all the neighboring ski resorts. with about 90 minutes till the bus left Ila and i were looking at a map and we realized that we were in a town that was quite a ways away from the town where our bus was. we asked for direction on how to get back to vars and headed that direction. when we got to the next town, we realized that it wasnt vars, and that we were still like 5 kilometers away and that with only 50 minutes until the bus left, we didnt think we could make it back in time. We met these two french students, and they gave us a ride in thier car from vars (st. m.) to vars (coulix). we made it to the bus on time and completed one of the wierdest ski trips i've ever been on.
incase you didnt catch on by the story, the place was huge, i didnt take many pictures maybe two, but they'll be coming soon.
