By 1944, many of the uniforms of the Fallschirmjäger were no
longer standardized. Many soldiers would wear the Heer jackboots, or
whatever boots was available. Some Fallschirmjäger would wear the
tropical pants in warmer weather, others wore DAK boots, and still
others carried standard infantry ammo pouches. The
Fallschirmtruppen had expanded so rapidly that supplying them
with uniforms and enforcing uniform standards had become nearly
impossible.
However, as a reenacting unit, it is important to present the
ideal standard to the public. Some variations will be allowed, with
more flexibility given to the late war (or basic) impression. This
will be the basic uniform, as the majority of battles take place
around the Normandy invasion (1944) or later (Ardennes Offensive,
advance to the Rhine, etc).
