Featured Website of the Month:

BNSF Pix.com

Saw a BNSF locomotive that you want more information on? Got the number but didn't know the model? Look no further than BNSFPix.com. This site may well be the single most extensive online photo roster of BNSF locomotives currently available. Not only do they have a current and regularly updated roster showing the status of all BNSF locomotives, but they have photos for a great many of them as well, including very elusive locomotives like the ex-Santa Fe SWBLW. It also includes a neat search feature where you can search for any BNSF locomotive according to its number, model, and even what paint scheme it wears.

There is the option to join the site as a registered user, which allows you to upload current roster photos, something that this site is always in need of. Additionally, membership allows you to post in their forums. There is a photo gallery with a huge number of photos by category: action, freight cars, passenger cars, MOW fleet, and even scale models of BNSF locomotives and cars.

All in all, this is an excellent site, and a must-visit for BNSF fans, or any railfan looking for up-to-date information on one of the largest railroads in the U.S. Consider it THE online BNSF locomotive spotting guide.

The Featured Website of the Month feature is meant to showcase a website that I particularly found enjoyable or interesting. Each month I will give a summary of what my web-pick is about, as well as come comments on the design of the site. It does not have to be necessarily railroad-related, although it often will be. You can see all of the past featured sites of the month in the Site of the Month Archives.
