From the Illawarra Mercury August 27 2002

ACT Team Councillor Trevor Mott "failed in a bid to have new ward boundaries overturned.

Last month Labor councillors succeeded in a late night move to rescind new boundaries drawn up by council officers, and agreed to by councillors earlier that night.

Last night Cr Mott said he felt the non-Labor councillors had been ambushed at the time."

Cr Mott was strongly supported by former ACT Team Councillor Carolyn Griffiths, as well as fellow ACT Team member, Cr Kerrie Christian.

Independent, Cr Anne Wood voted with the ALP to provide a crucial vote needed to defeat the recission motion.

The notice of recission placed on the agenda of Wollongong Council's meeting of August 26 2002, was as follows :

ITEM 9 - NOTICE OF RESCISSION - COUNCILLORS MOTT, CHRISTIAN AND POCOCK WARD BOUNDARIES FOR THE CITY OF WOLLONGONG - REPORT OF MANAGER ADMINISTRATION AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (JKD) 1/8/02

Councillors Mott, Christian and Pocock have submitted the following Notice of Rescission -

"We, the undersigned, hereby move a Notice of Motion to rescind Minute No 348 of the Council meeting of 22 July 2002 in relation to the determination of Ward Boundaries for the City of Wollongong."

The RESCISSION MOTION was LOST.
