Back in 1983 I bought my second bike brand new for approximately $6,000. I had Yoshimura do my engine work. A friend traded frames and I ended up with a modified frame that was gusseted by Vance & Hines. I installed a set of Dy-Mags fitted with at the time a Michelin Hi-Sport rear tire and a Dunlop K291 front tire. Then I installed a set of Mikuni 33mm Smoothbore carburetors and a Basani 4 into 1 pipe that was tucked and rolled to increase ground clearance and a custom muffler section. I had my swingarm reinforced. Also installed a set of Fox shocks, Derale oil cooler, fork brace, dual steel braided front brake lines.
In my younger days I used to race in the backroads. Some of my favorite places to race was Old Topanga, Angeles Crest, Palos Verdes and Ortega Hwy.
