Mirage TMNT
The funny thing about the TMNT comics and my reaction to them was that I found the original black and white comics to be quite more gritty and dark than the Image ones were that I read. I think this goes to show that everything is in one's expectations. I was expecting real dark and heavy stuff from Image from all the reviews I had read on the internet, my expectations were really high for that kind of stuff and I didn't see it, I was quite happy with it when I thought I might not be. I had heard a little that the origanals were more gritty than some things, but I hadn't anticipated what I saw there. In a way I am greatly relieved that the original turtles were this way, rather harsh, because I guess I didn't really want to find out that they were sissies or something. Now you must know that generally I am a very non-violent person, I don't watch horror movies very much, they're too scary, and I don't enjoy people spitting on cats or the turtles brutally killing people- I don't like it, but it does need to be that way with me. It was very strange. I did enjoy them, very much more than the other Eastman and Laird things I found in the comic Goobledegook, variety is the spice of life though, I suppose. Of course the pictures in these comic books are really good. When I think of turtles- I think of the Eastman and Laird turtles, I will forever be in awe of their talent. Personally, I am not sure I will ever have the patience to draw that many pictures with detail like that. Then again, that's probably the difference between them picking a career in drawing and I probably won't. Anyhoo, I have not read many comics to say the least, from my breif taste of them I'd say their not my thing, but if I'm going to find comics I like, Cerebus and TMNT are probably it.
I have no idea what this tour was- but the bus was cool!
Out of all the artists that I have seen draw the turtles, other than Eastman and Laird, I really enjoyed the work of Mark Bode the absolute best. Eastman and Laird's drawing are the picture of the turtles, but besides that, Mark Bode's comic book was the one I loved! It was so funny, and the pictures were so funny, and April and Molly were so funny, I'm rambling on but they were so funny! I love the only comic I have of his, something called Book 32, however I really wish to find out which of the other turtle comics or anything else he has done, except I really don't know who to ask but the limited number of people who come to this, my, page the ranks of which you have just joined. So if you do know of any- even if it's just one, even if it's a guess, please email me right now- no, don't think! I won't mind if your wrong! Just give me a lead and I'll sniff out the rest!! :) So I took pictures from the one comic book I had to make this little 'memorial' here, hee hee, all in fun. Isn't it great when you love a book or a drawing like this? Personally, I'm not big on swooning fans of anything, but I didn't think this little blip here would swell Mark Bode's ego too much, after all, he'll probably never see it!
