Ribbon
on her 15th Birthday!
**We are saddened to announce that, inspite of her overall healthy condition, Ribbon was struck down by lung cancer. There is a massive hole in our hearts and our home. She will continue to live on in our memories and through her children and grandchildren.

"Old dog in a locket that lays next to my heart,
I will always love you as I did right from the start.
You were right beside me through the darkest of my days.
It was your kind and gentle nature that made me want to stay.

Now as I hold you in my arms, your breath still warm against my hand,
Our hearts still beat together and I wonder if you understand.
Through the hours that I held you, before the light did leave your soul,
I knew a way to keep you forever in my hold.

I snipped the hair from around your eyes so I would always see
the beauty that surrounds me, even in times of need.
I snipped the hair from around your ears so I would always hear
the music in the distance to quiet any fears.

I snipped the hair from across your back to bring me strength in time of need,
and that the power of your essence would always be with me.
I snipped the hair from around your heart that beats in time with mine,
so love would know to find me at some other distant time.

And so, your life slipped out of mine on a quiet spring like day
But I knew that a part of you was always here to stay.
Old dog in a locket that lays next to my heart,
I will always love you even though we had to part."

Ribbon is the first homebred champion of Castell Corgis, born August 2, 1986. During her show career she was a multiple group placer and actually won her first Herding Group at 12 years young! She exemplifies the quality and soundness we strive to produce. She is shown here winning the Veteran Class at the 1997 Canadian National Specialty under Breeder Judge Simon Parsons, "Deavitte".

Judges Critique:"Could not resist her at 12 years old. So active and full of bounce, still retains her attractive head, excellent topline, shapely figure and enthusiastic movement."

Ribbon is shown here winning the Veterans Class of the 2000 Columbia River Pembroke Welsh Corgi Specialty Show under Breeder Judge Sue Llewellyn of Courtlyn fame. Ribbon, only 2 weeks shy of 14 years old, beat out 4 younger bitches for this honor! She had so much fun, she almost bounced her way right out of the win!

Judges critique: "At 14 years, she was so raring to go at first she couldn't settle to her stride at all. Suddenly remembering her job, she changed her attitude and in every way, came together quite altering my opinion of her, so that I was delighted to be able to give her this award. Her head is of good proportions and foxy, if now somewhat graying, her good neck into well laid back shoulder. A really level topline, held on the move, with good length of body, square quarters and well angulated-she proceeded to go around the ring moving out and covering the ground as if half her age, at that moment she owned the ring."

Ribbon winning the Veteran Sweepstakes 12+ Class at the 2000 PWCCA National Specialty under Sue Vahaly, "Pennington".

Judges Critique:Red and white bitch with very nice proportions and a pleasing head. Strong level topline.

Ribbon placing 4th in the Regular Veteran bitch class, 2000 PWCCA National, in an entry of 14 veterans under Sarah Taylor, "Bymil". What an honor!

Judges Critique:At 14 years this r/w was the "golden oldie" of the class and she looked wonderful. Not flashy but a good sensible type who can still move well. A credit to her owner.
