I don't know how many people out there keep a journal of their training, I do and it has come in handy. I usually thumb through it and remember cool moves or advice to myself. I write down the techniques just like they show you how to take notes in college! I'll give you an example:

This seems like a lot of extra work, and it is if it's a more advanced technique. I think it's worth it if it helps you remember techniques or good advice. you can go home after training an think, "Wow, that was a great move!" and you know you won't forget it, but you start to forget details and then it all goes. You can also keep your hour totals to kind of track you progress along a timeline.
