news.
JANUARY 16TH, 2002.
Well hey! Joe Vigil was kind enough to take the time for a quick little email interview, as well as supply us with some graphics to go along with it, including some never before seen Sinbuck previews. You know you want to check it all out right here. Thanks again, Joe. We all appreciate it.
JANUARY 9TH, 2002.
Here it is, the second update of the new year. A few more site updates to report to you this time, mainly in the gallery section. Recently, Silverwolf and Misc. Publisher cover galleries have been posted for your enjoyment. Follow the links to give them some love. I've also added the last two Rebel Edition LOTD covers in the appropriate section (thanks to Todd and Jason, it's much appreciated!).
The ever-growing Vigil-ography has expanded once more to add a few more German variants and a couple of Verotik books that I recently confirmed were indeed printed.
The Joe Vigil interview is coming along nicely. He's being really cooperative and is a nice guy, if you see him at your local con, make sure you stop by to say hi and pick up some goods. With a little luck, this'll be up within a week or so, along with some scans he's been kind enough to let me use, that you probably haven't seen yet (but you know you want to).
Other than that, I still have no idea if the Faust Communion Edition or Dark Utopia #7 has shipped yet. If you know, email me, please!
That's it for now. More later.
JANUARY 3RD, 2002
Happy new year. 2002 already, shit. Hard to believe it. A few corrections have been made to the bibliography, thanks to Joe Vigil for the heads up on the errors. Joe has also agreed to do an interview, so look for that when he has the time to get around to it.
Site maintenance continues, the art gallery section now has functioning Broken Halos and Avatar galleries happening, with nice, new, clean scans of all sorts of Vigil goodness. Go check it out here.
On a side note, has anyone noticed this? Looks like Kris Silver is back in action, though the site hasn't been updated since November of 2000 (but who am I to throw stones), so I dunno. There's some decent scans of some oddball Vigil books on the site though, which is kinda cool. There's going to be a Silverwolf cover gallery coming here soon as well, that's another thing to keep your eyes peeled for.
Has anyone seen a copy of the Faust Communion Edition yet? Or Dark Utopia #7? These will be out soon, if they're not already, bug the hell out of your local retailer for them if you want one. You saw what happened with Faust #12.....
More later in the week.
DECEMBER 18th, 2001
Just a quickie today... it appears people are having problems finding Faust #12. Odds are, like most retailers, yours didn't order enough (if any) copies.
All I can say is if you see it and you want it, get it. There's a copy on ebay right now and it's going for over $20 already and I don't know how reorders are going to go. Basically, it looks like it's more or less initially sold out. I know numbers were low, so there's more than likely a shortage.
Get it while you can or wait for the Communion Edition reprints from Rebel early next year.
DECEMBER 17th, 2001
Ok, well, if you look around, you'll see that quite a bit has changed over the weekend. I was a busy little devil and finally pulled up my socks and got down to business.
First off, I've posted my thoughts on the Faust feature film here. Check it out if you like.
Second, the gallery pages are being totally revamped. They're going to be better organized with better scans, to try and bring a bit more elegance to the site and to better represent just what Vigil is capable of doing with a line. It's not finished, but it's coming along nicely and all sections should at least be present by the end of the week. If you've got a scanner and could scan me copies of the Rebel Editions of Love of the Damned #3 and #4, you would also be my hero, as my copies were destroyed in a flood. Same goes for the LOTD Premiere #1.
The Vigil Bibliography has been updated as well. Let me know if you see anything that I've missed. I'll try and get Quinn's done by week's end as well.
Other than that, the site has just basically been cleaned up and cleaned out, I've gotten rid of dead links and will add new ones when I find some worth adding.
And now for some real news....
Avatar's website has got some Webwitch cover scans in the 02/02 pre order section showing the upcoming art for the regular, nude and emerald convention editions of the soon to be released Webwitch series written and illustrated by Tim. This looks very promising....
Dark Utopia #7 from Broken Halos should be out at either the end of December of early January of next year, so be damn sure to keep your eyes peeled for that one, you know it's worth it, and you know it'll be under-ordered.
More by the end of the week.....
DECEMBER 14th, 2001
Wow.
How long has it been? Comin' up on two years, it seems to me. Well, I've got a million and one legit excuses, so dig it. The site's back in action and with good reason.
Oh my God, what the fuck is that?????
Do my eyes fuckin' deceive me or is that Love of the Damned #12? Even later than this update, it's on the shelves now. If you can find one. My local comic store had a whopping two copies in stock and I was there when it opened on Wed. morning, so it's not like they had sold 50 before I got there, and they were behind some cowboy style saloon doors, in the porno section. Wouldn't want to corrupt young minds or anything. My thoughts on the issue and the issues soon. Early next week. I've got a busy weekend coming up full of Holiday cheer and PBR.
And what's this?
The movie is done. Well, I'll post a review later. Not enough time today.
Anyway, Dark Utopia will become a regularly updated website again soon. You may have already noticed some changes. Somethings have been cleaned up, deleted, updated, etc., so have a look around.
So what the fuck happened to me? Well, I don't want to go into all the gorey details, but essentially, divorce, moping, drinking, courting, marriage, moving from Canada to the West Coast of the US, and essentially getting life back on track. It's been a busy two years and it's nice to have a stable life that I can enjoy again.
Good to see that Broken Halos and Avatar are still alive and kicking as well. The new Gunfighters issue kicked no small amount of ass, that's for damn sure.
So, expect the usual rants, raves, reviews, curse words, and hopefully a nicer looking and faster loading website. We'll see.
Lots of work to do this weekend. I'm gonna see if I can pull a few strings and get some surprises up here for the faithful.
Back soon.....
