MOVING OUT Indeed, the region around the Lake Constance is expensive to live in. Trash diving, junk markets and less successful self-employment was not sufficient enough to fix the costs of living (if one rents a 90 square meters flat in the first floor of a two-family house, build in 1992, a garage, a giant attic and a 25 mē loggia with -sometimes- good sight at the swiss mountains included). Four and a half years we kept on living and paying there at that brandnew edge of an old village. Lately we decided to move out onto a cheaper place. We rented a smaller flat in the town 20 kilometres apart from the old home. With a little attic, no loggia (but a balcony), no mountain view, only residental blocks around. The cellar room is a bit bigger than the last one. Something other changed, too - each of us has an own room now. The first problem was: I had to unload certain things because I didnīt want the new flat bursting at the seams immediately. Hard decision time - and mainly still unsolved. In the meantime the results of trashdiving, destinated for the junk market, are mostly stored in my business room where I run an text processing office until I got a lucrative job - two days after we signed the lease for the new flat. So the financial problems are solved now, turning into problems of other quality, like having no more time to do anything else than to work and sleep. On the other hand I do not miss the attic very much, because for the first time since about 5 years my favourite plush ponies and other toys are handsome stored in my room. Thatīs great. |
