Bavarian Infantry, 1799-1815
The Prussian army fought against
Napoleon and the French for most of the period, but most of the rest of
Germany fought alongside the French.
Bavaria was one of the largest of
Napoleon's German allies. Near the end of the Napoleonic Wars the
Bavarians famously switched sides.
HaT Industries has released a beautiful
set of Bavarian infantry in eight poses. Since the Bavarians wore
the same uniform throughout the Napoleonic Wars, this is a very useful
set. Bavarian line infantry wore a medium-to-light-blue jacket with
red turnbacks and lapels, cuffs, and collar in the facing color.
The lights wore a green jacket with red turnbacks, black lapels and cuffs,
and collars in the regimental facing color. The first four figures
are all light infantry, and the next four all line. The HaT set has
good raised detail and excellent facial features.
