All - Mass Nerder
Type: Punk/Pop Punk
This one is one of my favorites. All has definetly stepped up on there pop punk sound since their last album. Since their album "Percolater" they've put Chad Price in as their lead vocals. I happen to like Chad's voice and excellent harmonies, especially on the track "I'll Get There". The songs are also have very catchy tunes and great lyrics. Songs like "Fairweather Friend" have lyrics you can relate to with a tune you'll want to hear again. While songs like "Honey Peeps" and "Romantic Junkie" are more sarcastic, fun songs. All in all, Mass Nerder is a great album for both the pop punk or hardcore fan.
Less Than Jake - Hello Rockview
Type: Punk/ska
Another good album from one of the defining bands of the punk/ska genre. Rockview is a little lighter than LTJ's previous material, but still good stuff. This album is also a bit more commercial than the rest of their albums. To my knowlegde the song "Help Save the Youth of America From Exploding" was on the soundtrack for Ten Things I Hate About You. Or it was used briefly in the movie, whichever. Also, I was in Best Buy buying a playstation game when I picked up this album and Best Buy had this on the New Music rack. Some of my fav songs on the album are "Last One Out of Liberty City", "All My Best Friends are Metalheads", "Five State Drive", and "Scott Farcas Takes It on the Chin". A great punk/ska album for either the new LTJ fan or the old one.

Spring Heeled Jack USA - Songs From Suburbia
Type: punk/ska
I had orginally heard this band on 120 minutes when I saw the video for "Jolene". This song is a fast, upbeat kinda punk/ska song. I thought that the rest of the album would have the same sound. After I'd listened to the whole album it was as a different story. The majority of the songs on the album have a kind of laid back reggae and ska feel. The only songs that have a some-what fast tempo punk/ska feel would have to be "Jolene", "Waiting, Watching", and "Pop Song (Green)". The songs with a ska feel are "Tied Up", "Morning Sun", and "MCMLIX". While the song that I felt had a strong reggae influence was "Makisupa Policeman". Overall, not what I was expecting after hearing their single "Jolene", but a good mix of ska and laid back punk/ska.

The Suicide Machines - Battle Hymns
Type: Punk
This album has a definent different sound from their previous album "Destruction by Definition". "Battle Hymns" is a lot harder with a lot more hardcore songs then upbeat punk/ska songs, while it was the other way around with the previous album. All total the album consists of 22 tracks which might seems to be a lot but most are short, hard songs as the longest song is 2 minutes 19 seconds and the shortest 4 seconds. My favorite songs are "Give", "Someone", and "In the End". As a whole I liked this album and thought it was a good next step for TSM as they experiment with all the sounds they can get as a band. My only complaint would be the excess of 4 and 50 second songs.
