2nd SUB-JUNIOR NATIONAL ROWING CHAMPIONSHIPS
&
4th OPEN SPRINT NATIONAL ROWING CHAMPIONSHIPS


Calcutta played host to the 2nd Sub-Junior Nationals and the 4th Open Sprint Nationals. Both these championships are held over a distance of 500 metres. The finals were rowed on the 8th of January 2000.

The Tamilnadu Amateur Rowing Association (TARA), comprising of oarspersons from the Madras Boat Club, fielding a strong contingent, performed well and won a couple of Gold medals.

B.Harsha, the younger brother of B.Dushyanth (winner of the Willingdon fours - 1999) has shown a lot of promise in winning the Gold in the Sub-Junior Single Sculls. He is the man to watch out in the future.

The girls, Urmila Venkat and Lavanya Iyer has made a habit of winning. They have this season along with Lekhamitra Rajender and Urvashi Venkat won almost all events in their class. The Sub-Junior title last year, the Junior title, then the ARAE and now the Sub-Junior again. Well done girls !!! Keep it up and keep at it, there is more to be won !!!
