The secrets of the magnetic pole

Strange as it may seem, North isn't always North.

Hidden within the Earth is the mechanism that generates the magnetic field. This pervasive force allows us to determine a wandering magnetic North Pole, yes, but it does more, much more. Our very cells are attuned to the magnetic meridians that striate the planet through biomineralization of ferrimagnetic magnetite. Biogenic magnetite, as it is commonly called, is in human brain tissue. We are tied to the magnetic field in ways poorly understood by traditional science.

But is the magnetic force field as stable as the Earth's axis? The answer is no. Every year Magnetic North shifts northwestly about 40 km.

Cause: unknown.

But there's more.

The magnetic pole flops, end over end, between 100,000 and 25 million years. The last shift was sometime during the last ice age, as seen in the paleomagnetic record, locked into the rocks of the ocean floor.

We're due for another switch. The Mayans knew. That's why their calendar ends at 2012. The new-agers can feel something, but in their haze of love and purple goodness they can't seen what's going on. The photon belt is the answer, but for different reasons than they think.

What happens when the pole flops? Science so far has restricted itself to the obvious: migrating birds and butterflies will become confused and fly in the wrong direction; compasses will all be wrong and have to be replaced. But if you've ever taken a toy electric motor and switched polarity, that is, changed the positive and negative leads to the battery, you should know the true significance of the magnetic poles switching.

The earth will start spinning the other way.
