There is nothing wrong with you
television set. Do not
attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling
transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring
up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune
it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will
control the vertical. We can roll the image; make it
flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur, or
sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit
quietly and we will control all you see and hear. We
repeat: There is nothing wrong with your television set.
You are about to participate in a great adventure. You
are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches
from the inner mind to ... the Outer Limits. |
Hello
and welcome to my small dedication to the great science
fiction mystery television show.... THE OUTER LIMITS. The OUTER LIMITS ran from 1963 to 1966 and consisted of 49 episodes of suspense, drama, mystery and general sci-fi. One of the main characteristics of the OUTER LIMITS was what was termed a BEAR. Each episode had one and it was basically an elaborate alienist being designed to capture the horror aspects of the show. However, in certain stories, such as the Galaxy Being, the Bear is not at all evil but quite benevolent, an interesting parable on prejudice. Like the Twilight Zone, there have been contemporary remakes of the original episodes, but, although they may have up-to-date special effects and believable ( ??? ) aliens, they do not possess that aura of alienism that the original black and white episodes contained. |
