Phoenix Team Guidelines

Phoenix Game Policy

1. We do not use substitutes, nor do we allow our opponents to use them while they are playing matches with us. We believe that each team’s statistics should be earned by its own members’ efforts.

2. Phoenix strives toward proper use of the English language, and in some cases currently acceptable slang. We try to capitalize and punctuate properly. When ellipses are used to indicate a pause, only three dots are acceptable, with a space between the … and the next word. An example of an acceptable use of ellipses would be “Gone… Wind”. We limit ourselves to one exclamation point at the end of a sentence, capitalize the beginning of a sentence and a proper noun, and refrain from excessive use of quotes. We play to the best of our human ability, which does NOT mean that we are not allowed an occasional mistake.

3. We refrain from using “cheats”, such as joining words with punctuation like.this.with.periods or separating long words intentionally to make two shorter words, such as psycho analyst.

4. We believe that Team Acro is a team experience, and as such prefer top 5 cumulative scoring. Exceptions can be made after discussion between our captain and the captain of the other team.

5. Phoenix rises from the clean side of Acrophobia. We enjoy clever innuendo when that is acceptable to the other team, but refrain from gross vulgarity.

6. Phoenix members will show the highest form of sportsmanship. Please do not exclude the other team’s members from your chat or compliments during match play.

7. We meet for practice ½ hour before each match. Players in the game are encouraged to be there at that time. Other team members not in the match are encouraged to come practice and cheer us on! If you can not be at warm-ups but still want to play in the match, please let the game captain know in advance.

8. If you can not make it to a game for which you are scheduled, please don’t worry! We understand that life provides complications, and that is why we have alternates. Just try to be courteous when you do know in advance, and notify your game captain. For our captain's sake, they will announce the roster 10 min before game time, and unless she/he knows you will be late, a substitute will be put in at that time.

9. We normally choose to keep booted points in a match. The Acrobot can really change the outcome of a match, if several of a team’s players are booted.

10. If a PX player is booted, he/she has 5 minutes to return or notify a captain before a PX alternate is called in as a replacement. This is not a punishment, but a practical way to keep the game moving along. Should the captain of the match be booted, another captain that is involved in the game will take over. If no other captains are present (very unusual) any player may ask the oposing teams captain to have a time out until the PX captain is able to return.

11. If a player is booted during a match, we continue play. If several players are booted, the captains may decide to pause. Please pay attention to the chat when players are booted, and look for your captain’s instructions.

12. If a non team member enters the team match room and refuses to leave, or uses insults or obscenities, the captain will ask the players to eject the uninvited guest. Type /complain followed by the offender’s name, but only when asked to do so by one of the match captains.

13. Please hold chat while the captains are trying to address people in the match room.

14. Our team’s captains direct wandering acroers who are curious about Team Acro to http://www.teamacro.com.

15. We encourage you to visit our team’s message board as often as you can. It is a great way to get to know each other better, as well as keep up on the team’s information.

16. In summary, we play to the best of our abilities. We employ creativity in our acros, and courtesy in our speech. Most of all, we have PHUN!

Players’ Policy

1. We try to follow team policies while never losing track of our commitment to fun and friendship. That’s why we’re here!

2. We will show respect for members of our own team, and for other players, in a match or regular room, in uniform or plain clothes. As a practice, team members should not wear their uniforms to regular rooms. If one chooses to pop into a room for a bit before a match, that is o.k.

3. We believe that commitment is an important aspect of belonging to a team. Therefore, we ask that Phoenix members not be members of any other acro team.

4. We enjoy playing together. This means that each member’s participation is a vital part of the whole. We ask that you attend practice regularly, and try to sign up for at least one game each week when possible. We understand that life can indeed interfere with Acro, but we would like you to be an active member.

5. Our membership will not exceed 30 active members. Inactive members will have priority to choose to return to active status before new members are introduced.

6. Because of the adult nature of some of our scheduled matches, no one under the age of 18 will be admitted as a Phoenix member.

7. Our members will not make comments on other teams’ message boards that are personally detrimental to any other players. This does not mean that we will not stand up for what we believe in, or respond to others’ opinions thoughtfully and carefully.
