This part of the site is my editorial and review of the different miniatures games that have come along over the years. As the title says I'm only really interested in science fiction miniatures rules. Some years after I bought the Rogue Trader rules a number of new Sci-fi miniatures games started to come out. For a while I tried to buy every one that I could get my hands one. And I did accumulate a rather impressive selection. Some of them were okay and some were bad others were very bad indeed. Now I have kind of fallen behind and I'm sure there are some games that I never investigated. The type of rules that this web pages is about and the kind that I am most interested in are 25mm skirmish style rules. So you won't find reviews of games like Dirtside or Heavy Gear here.
Each review will have a standard format including the following sections.
Overview: What the game is about, its history, and main
features.
Pros: The things that the game had going for it and any
innovations it introduced.
Cons: What didn't work in the game, its failings, and
rough spots.
Miniatures: Thoughts and information about any
miniatures from the game.
Many companies that have produced these games that came in the wake of Rogue Trader follow a similar theme. Most of the games were made by miniatures manufactures to support the sales of thier products. Oftimes the game seems to simply have been a way of legitamizing a range of miniatures compatible with 40K. At the least most of the games and miniatures here were meant to attract the same audience as 40k. The usual strategy for the release of one of these games has been to try and "convert" you to there game. The games will usually have specific backgrounds and races which try to limit you to their miniatures. After all if you can use all the miniatures you already have then all they end up selling you is a rule book or two.
These are the rules that I plan to review.
