”Nemesis! I have good news for you! I have captured April Eagle, the daughter of Commander Eagle. With her as our hostage, we can surely win now.” reported Jesse Blue.

He was very proud of himself and nothing in the world could change it.

“I’ve heard that the humans were planning to execute her. Are you sure that they’re going to change their mind willingly, and give up their defense for someone they want to see dead in the first place?” his tone dripped in sarcasm like he was talking to a little boy who came in with a frog and claimed it to be a princess.

“Of course not. However, now, the Star Sheriffs are missing one crewmember. That means that their ability to fight will decrease drastically. The more they are involved in battles, the better chances we’ll have.”

“And what if they’ll replace her with someone else?”

“They can do that,” Jesse easily agreed. “But I’m the one who will make certain that they won’t get that chance in the first place… You’ll see. Soon, I will bring down the entire human race kneeing down at your feet.”

“You never were optimistic before.”

“I didn’t have April Eagle.”

“Yes, I know. I was told that you have brought her to the Vapor Zone. Isn’t that a bit risky?”

“Not at all. I know that kitty well. Right now, she isn’t even moving a finger as we speak.

“Tell me Jesse, why do you need her? I have once asked you what it was like for you to be in love, and you have answered that it was painful. Am I to assume that it is pleasant for you humans to feel pain?”

“It is only painful if you’re rejected, but I’ll find my way with her. I have all eternity now. She eventually will be mine! Perhaps, I even will marry her. The timing couldn’t be any better.”

“It’s hard for me to understand you, but I trust you nonetheless. Do as you as you see it is fit. However, there is one thing I want you to do before you leave… Bring April Eagle to me. I want to see her.”

There was a slight pause before Jesse answered.

“All right.” he agreed unwillingly, and then turned the connection off.

April was feeling weary in her rooms, or better yet… She was having the most agonizing time as the memories overflow her mind like ocean waves. There was nothing what she wanted from this life. It was all meaningless to her. She didn’t have a purpose to live, and there was no need for her to stay alive. Now, she could never go back. She no longer had the right to live among humans. She didn’t deserve to be happy. At the same time though, she realized that she wasn’t going to do anything to end this life. She remembered the fear of coming close to death, and it wasn’t the only thing that had scared her. She remembered Stellar’s words from one of her dreams well. ‘We have a destiny together. You and me’.

Did this mean that her sister was gong to die also if she was going to do something to herself? April didn’t want to test it out. She had to stay alive just to guarantee her sister’s well-being and safety. She only hoped that she was going to be more fortunate than her.

At first when when they had just arrived on the Outrider planet, April wanted to spend time bugging Jesse and make him mad. However, she didn’t see him from the moment he showed her to her room. April was too proud to go looking for him. Then, for few nights in a row, she had nightmares, causing her to withdrew further to her own world. Thus, when Jesse did find a minute to visit her, she already was too far from the real world that she didn’t want anything but to be left alone.

Jesse Blue made it cleared to her that she wasn’t a prisoner here. He never interfere whenever he sensed that she wasn’t in a mood for company. He even showed some understanding on what she was going though. On the other hand, he could have played being understanding.

“Now you know how I felt when I was thrown out of the academy”

“You left it.” April answered automatically.

But deep in her soul, she agreed with him that it was a big moral wound. In return, he started to hate human kind. What was going to happen to her? Was she going hate herself?

No, that wasn’t the answer. Then, how could she still believed herself innocent if she had worked for the Outriders at one point. Was she going to reject human kind just as Jesse did even they had sentenced her to death. She simply couldn’t find the hate in her heart. She lost the focus in her life. There was no more faith, and that was the most tragic thing.

Yet, her biggest mistake was that April saw, knew and gave an account to herself of that was happening, and she didn’t do a thing about it.

It was in such condition when April heard from Jesse the news that Nemesis was ordering her to be brought to him.

“You’ll better shake up a little.” Jesse said in an almost with tender tone.

“This will be interesting to meet the main Outrider,” she answered politely.

She was amazed at herself that she did indeed wanted to see that strange legendary creature. Even the Outriders spoke of him with humbles tones.

“I’ll tell you when we’re going to leave. Be ready.”

“I’m ready.”

Jesse Blue smiled when he closed the door, so April didn’t see that. ‘That girl has no idea what kind of a surprise is waiting for her on the Main Base.’

The flight was very short. Jesse Blue foreseeingly forbid April to come on to the bridge. He still had hoped to keep this ship’s technology a secret to her.

Armed guards were waiting for them once the ship landed. Jesse explained that it was only an escort of honor, but he was doubting himself.

Like a king from the Middle Ages, Nemesis was sitting on his throne. The mask was hiding his face or was that his face. Not even the Outrider servants knew. Jesse greeted his superior with a short bow of the head with April only a half step behind him. She then stepped up, and looked at something aside from Nemesis’s throne.

“April!” Jesse warned her.

“Îh! I see. She’s the amazing creature. A very straightforward young Lady indeed…” Nemesis said.

“Oh yes, she’s quite unusual.” Jesse agreed.

They were talking about April like she wasn’t there at all, then he remembered about her, “April, please. Keep your focus on the discussion at hand here.”

“It’s a hologram.” she then said. “There was no need to travel that far only to see a hologram.”

That was a surprising news to Jesse. Nemesis made a sound that sounded like a laugh.

“And she’s a smart one, too. She sees things that you obviously can’t.” Nemesis eventually said after calming down.

“She has a skeptic mind. That’s why she saw it in the first place.”

“I assume that you also could have guessed to why I have avoided to be present with an entrusted human.”

“He’s afraid that the molecules from the human dimension will affect his Vapor structure. No one knows how it might change him. Your Nemesis just isn’t going to risk it.”

“Is that true?” Jesse asked. “I never saw the real you?”

Nemesis made that strange laughing sound again.

“I wish she could be on our side.”

“Sooner or later she’ will be.” Jesse replied in a serious tone. “I’m planning to marry her.”

“I’m not sure that’s such a good idea.” April calmly interjected like it wasn’t about her they were talking about. “I don’t think your boss will ever trust me.”

“Child, why are you talking like I’m not present here?” asked Nemesis, her manner brightening his good mood.

“In reality, you are not here. But that’s not important now… Tell me… honestly… what was it that you changing your mind in wanting to conquer our dimension?” April felt like flowing in the sea of unreality. She wasn’t afraid or worried. She felt like all of this was happening to someone else. She didn’t think that Nemesis would answer her, but he did.

“It’s parts of our nature - to take what it is easy to get. If you humans can’t control your world, then we will. We will make it as beautiful as ours. Anyone who stands in our way will be destroyed, but if someone joins us - they will be reward handsomely.”

“Aha, I got it. So the is only one way for humans and Outriders to live in peace in one universe is total surrender of the human race.”

“You got that right! If you really want peace as your leaders always stated, then why not give up in the first place to save all the unnecessary fighting?”

“You have been socializing with him for a long time now.” April nodded towards Jesse’s direction. “You should have learned by now that humans and Outriders are not that different from one another. Both races worry about accomplishing their goals. If someone didn’t like them they leave. For your information, the human race is expansive, anxious and very ambitious On top of that, humans can be real egoists as well even if we have enough brain to hide it behind our diplomacy. Right now, I have only one advice for you - go to another dimension and leave ours alone. There is a theory going around that if the number of your Outriders in our dimension will reach its critical point, then both worlds will mix up. It might kill all races in both dimensions. Or, are you going to give the humans a way to enter in to your territory, like you doing now using your Vapor Trail. Do you want to check that theory out?”

Jesse Blue listened entranced at what she had said. He had never considered of that possibility. The Outriders were nothing but good tools for his revenge.

“My scientists think that the possibility of that kind of event ever to happen is minimum. We are making sure that all of our soldiers will return back to our dimension. We never give them enough energy to stay there long enough in the first place.” Nemesis sounded assured that caused April not wanting to continue the current topic.

The Top boss of all Outriders waited for a reply, but April remained silent.

“Your girlfriend is tired. I know that there is some sort of a ceremony needed for the weeding. How are you going to make it? And when?”

“Never!” was April’s answer.

She turned around and left the audience chamber. One of the guards blocked her way at the door. Without any resistance, she waited for Jesse to give the order for her to pass.

“I thought that you’re going to like him.” Jesse then gently started while they were walking back to the ship.

“He was honest, but it doesn’t mean that I have to adore him for that. And one more thing… I’m tired to be stopped every single time. I don’t want to stay on that dead rock of an asteroid!”

“April, how did you find out that it’s an asteroid?” Jesse Blue was stunned that he didn’t even bother to hide it.

“Don’t take me for stupid one who can’t tell the difference between an artificial and a natural gravitation!” she snapped at him.

For the remainder of the time, April spent her time, locked in her cabin. But, before closing the door, she mentioned quietly that everything and everyone on the ship was making her nauseous.
