"The Wilsons" by Dan

It's a scary thing when an album comes out that has been so highly anticipated.
Being an OBSESSED fan of Wendy Wilson, Wilson Phillips, "The Hey Santa" album
and "Naked & Sacred I could not wait. I knew I would like anything they did,
but really hoped it would be great.
Little did I know they were about to release one of the best albums I have ever heard.
This album is perfection from beginning to end.

"MONDAY WITHOUT YOU"
The opener and first single is an instant classic.
This is what the Beach Boys should be doing right now.
The California Sound is alive and well. This could be HUGE!!!

"GOOD ABOUT YOU"
The first step into a new and wonderful direction.
This is what Wilson Phillips should be doing right now.
The sonic quality to their voices here is overwhelming.
A haunting hint of Chynna Phillips in the ending passages.

"MIRACLE"
This is where the album steps heavily into the ethereal.
Lush instrumentation weaves around touching lyrics.

"GODDESS' REVIVAL"
Wendy Wilson starts to show her understated
but incredable vocal control.

"CANDY"
A strange turn here, but very musically rich. Wonderful vocal weaving
with nice synth sounds.

"TILL I DIE"
This has always been my favorite Brian Wilson song.
They have done a fine job here. The modern approach to the Rhythm section
works nicely. The vocal arrangement is superb.
Brian's distant "until i die" is absolutely chilling to the bone.

"ST. JOAN"
WOW! this is not at all what I expected from this album.
What a pleasant surprise. This sounds to me a bit like XTC. (another fav)
I especially love what I like to call the "dream sequence" part in the middle.
What a powerful song.

"OPEN DOOR"
Another song showing the real depth of this album.
Carnie's vocals are smooth as silk. excellent writing here as well.

"I HATE YOUR FACE"
Time to rock now!!
This is another indication of what might be a late 90's Wilson Phillips sound.
Great song, however "I hate your face cause I love your face"
is a bit of a stretch even for a die-hard fan like me.

"EVERYTHING"
70's meets 90's here. Again the California Sound of the 90s.

"NOT YOUR AVERAGE GIRL"
OOOOOHHHHHHHH YYYYEEEESSSSS!!!!
This is the what I love about these girl's voices. It's like a choir from heaven.
And just a wonderful song. This has become my favorite song on the album..

"EVERYTHING I NEED"
This is easily one of the best songs I have ever heard.
