Aaron Carter Interview With Muchmusic (February 13th, 1999)

(February 13, 1999) (Cheering and Applause)

Rachel: EVERYBODY, WELCOME BACK. WE ARE IN MuchMusic. I'M HERE WITH AARON CARTER. HOW ARE YOU DOING?

GOOD.

Rachel: I HAVEN'T SEEN YOU IN, WHAT, LIKE, THREE, FOUR MONTHS?

A LITTLE LONGER THAN THAT.

Rachel: YEAH, MAYBE. YOU GOT A HAIRCUT.

YEAH.

Rachel: SO DID I. YOU CAN'T TELL.

NOT REALLY.

Rachel: YOU WERE JUST AT ROY THOMSON HALL PERFORMING. YOU GUYS SAW HIM? (Cheering and Applause) WAS IT A GOOD SHOW?

YEAH, IT WAS GOOD.

Rachel: WAS IT A GOOD SHOW? (Cheering and Applause) APPARENTLY SO. THE FANS LIKED IT. YOU JUST CAME HERE FROM THERE. I'M A LITTLE CONCERNED. YOU DO A LOT OF DANCING ON STAGE, RIGHT?

UM-HMM.

Rachel: DID YOU SHOWER?

DID I SHOWER? (Laughter) NO. I PUT COLOGNE ON, THOUGH.

Rachel: YOU SMELL ALL RIGHT. DO YOU STILL LIKE PERFORMING? YOU STILL ENJOYING IT?

OH, YEAH.

Rachel: YOU LIKE THE SPOTLIGHT?

UM-HMM.

Rachel: WHAT ARE THE UPS AND DOWNS OF THAT? WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT THE SPOTLIGHT?

UHMM, WELL, I LIKE SEEING ALL THE FANS. TODAY, ACTUALLY, WHEN I WAS PERFORMING ON "MISS YOU FOREVER," A GIRL CAME UP ON STAGE. I WAS LIKE "UGH."

Rachel: THIS GIRL RIGHT HERE JUMPED UP ON STAGE?

YEAH.

Rachel: LISTEN TO THAT. THEY'RE SCREAMING YOUR NAME. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THAT?

A BIT WEIRD, BUT I GET USED TO IT.

Rachel: YEAH, I GUESS YOU WOULD, EH?

I WANT TO SHOW YOU GUYS SOMETHING.

Rachel: I SAW THIS. WHAT IS THIS? YOU GOT A HEAD.

MIKE. THAT'S MIKE RIGHT THERE.

Rachel: THAT'S YOUR SECURITY GUARD. HE'S GOT SORT OF A SIMILAR OUTFIT TO YOU.

UH-HUH. THIS IS ACTUALLY A PICTURE OF HIM. (Laughter)

Rachel: LOOKS OKAY.

DOESN'T IT LOOK LIKE HIM?

Rachel: GET A SHOT OF THIS.

I STILL HAVE TO FINISH IT. NOW GO OVER.

Rachel: SEE IF YOU CAN GET A SHOT OF MIKE.

SEE IF I DID A GOOD JOB.

Rachel: I DON'T KNOW.

OKAY, I'M GONNA FINISH IT. RIGHT THERE.

Rachel: IS HE YOUR GOOD FRIEND?

UH-HUH.

Rachel: YEAH. HE TAKES CARE OF YOU WHILE YOU'RE ON TOUR?

OH, YEAH.

Rachel: YEAH. WELL, LIKE, WHERE ARE ALL YOUR FRIENDS? YOU MUST MISS YOUR FRIENDS, EH?

WELL, I MAKE FRIENDS OUT ON THE ROAD, TOO.

Rachel: BUT MIKE'S YOUR FRIEND.

UH-HUH.

Rachel: OKAY. LET'S GO -- I'M GOING TO TAKE A LOOK AT A FAX QUESTION HERE. WE ASKED FOR SOME FAXES. THERE'S A QUESTION HERE FROM NICOLE PEDDLER IN NEWMARKET, ONTARIO. "CAN YOU ASK AARON CARTER THIS FOR ME: DOES HE FIND PEOPLE IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY TREAT HIM DIFFERENTLY BECAUSE HE'S ONLY TEN YEARS OLD? IF SO, HOW DOES HE DEAL WITH THIS?" WHAT DO YOU THINK? DO PEOPLE TREAT YOU DIFFERENTLY?

NO.

Rachel: WOULD YOU KNOW OTHERWISE ANYWAY?

I THINK I WOULD KNOW.

Rachel: YOUR BROTHER TELLS YOU WHAT GOES ON IN THE INDUSTRY, EH?

UM-HMM.

Rachel: THEY'RE TREATING YOU WELL?

OH, YEAH.

Rachel: THEY'RE NOT WORKING YOU TOO HARD?

UH-UH.

Rachel: YOU'RE NOT TIRED?

UH-UH, NO.

Rachel: YOU'RE GETTING LOTS OF REST?

OH, YEAH.

Rachel: WHEN DID YOU GET TO CANADA?

I GOT TO CANADA A COUPLE DAYS AGO.

Rachel: DID YOU COME ACROSS THE BORDER? DID THEY SEARCH YOU AT THE BORDER? DID THEY STRIP-SEARCH YOU AT THE BORDER?

NO. (Laughter)

Rachel: WOULD YOU BE FRIGHTENED IF THEY DID?

YES. YES!

Rachel: BUT YOU DON'T DO ANYTHING WRONG, DO YOU?

UH-UH.

Rachel: LET'S GO TO THE PHONE. ARE WE GOING TO GO TO THE PHONE? WE'RE GOING TO GET A QUESTION FROM SOMEBODY ON THE PHONE RIGHT NOW. WHO'S ON THE PHONE? HELLO?

Caller: HI.

Rachel: WHAT'S YOUR NAME?

Caller: JODI.

Rachel: JODI, WHAT DO YOU WANT TO ASK AARON?

Caller: I WANT TO ASK AARON WHO HIS CHOREOGRAPHER IS.

Rachel: HOLD ON. HEY, PEOPLE AT THE WINDOW, SHHH! NOW THAT'S NOT GOING TO WORK. CAN WE GET A LITTLE MORE AUDIO ON THE PHONE? CAN WE ASK THE QUESTION AGAIN?

Caller: YEAH. I WANTED TO ASK HIM WHO HIS CHOREOGRAPHER IS, AND I WANTED TO TELL HIM I THOUGHT HE WAS REALLY CUTE AND I LOVED HIS SHOW ON AUGUST 18th WHEN I SEEN HIM AT EDMONTON.

Rachel: SO YOU GOT SOME KUDOS ON A SHOW THERE. WHO'S YOUR CHOREOGRAPHER?

KEITH, Jr. KEITH.

Rachel: IS KEITH, Jr. HERE? CAN WE BRING KEITH IN THE SHOT JUST TO GET A LOOK AT HIM? (Cheering and Applause)

Rachel: THIS IS THE MAN BEHIND THE MAN.

HE MAKES UP ALL THE MOVES.

Rachel: HE MAKES UP ALL THE MOVES. WELL, YOU TAUGHT ME SOME MOVES LAST TIME. HE'S GONNA -- I THINK HE'S GOING TO BE A CHOREOGRAPHER ONE DAY ACTUALLY. I THINK HE WILL BE. THAT'S GOOD. OH, YOU TAUGHT ME THAT ONE BEFORE, DIDN'T YOU? ISN'T THAT THE ONE WHERE WE DO THIS?

YEAH.

Rachel: WE DID THAT. THAT'S PASS‚. WE DID THAT ONE. I WAS GOING TO GO TO AN AUDIENCE QUESTION RIGHT NOW. THIS GIRL WOULD LIKE TO ASK YOU A QUESTION.

HI, AARON. MY NAME'S SHAUNA. I WAS JUST WONDERING, HAS YOUR BROTHER INSPIRED YOU AT ALL?

OH, YEAH, YEAH.

Rachel: IN WHAT WAYS?

WELL, HE TELLS ME JUST TO WATCH AND MAKE SURE YOU CAN FIT THROUGH THE DOOR, MAKE SURE YOUR HEAD DOESN'T GET TOO BIG.

Rachel: DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT AT ALL? HAS ANYONE TOLD YOU, "YOU GOTTA WATCH IT. YOU'RE STARTING TO LIKE YOURSELF TOO MUCH."

NO.

Rachel: NOBODY, EH? NO, I DON'T THINK SO. YOU SEEM EXACTLY PRETTY MUCH THE SAME AS LAST TIME I SAW YOU. I DON'T KNOW. NOW, HAVE YOU BEEN HAVING ANY FUN LATELY?

OH, YEAH.

Rachel: OH, YEAH. DO YOU GO TO ANY MOVIES?

MOVIES? SOMETIMES.

Rachel: SOMETIMES. WHAT DO YOU SEE? WHAT'S THE LAST MOVIE YOU SAW?

UHH... I THINK IT WAS "THE FACULTY."

Rachel: DID YOU LIKE IT?

YEAH.

Rachel: THAT'S THAT CREEPY MOVIE.

YEAH.

Rachel: ARE YOU OLD ENOUGH TO GET INTO THAT MOVIE?

YEAH.

Rachel: OKAY, OKAY.

IT WAS A SCARY MOVIE.

Rachel: I CAN'T WATCH THEM. I GET FRIGHTENED. I GET BAD DREAMS AT NIGHT. I'M SCARED.

YOU SHOULD WATCH "CHUCKY."

Rachel: NO, NO. THAT'S THE ONE ABOUT THE DOLL.

YEAH.

Rachel: I CAN'T WATCH THAT.

OH, IT'S NOT FRIGHTENING.

Rachel: REALLY? THESE KIDS TODAY, THEY'RE DESENSITIZED TOTALLY. WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU LISTEN TO, AARON?

ALL KINDS OF MUSIC. I MEAN, I LIKE --

Rachel: DON'T SAY THE BACKSTREET BOYS. (Laughter)

OKAY, I'LL SAY 'N SYNC. (Cheering)

Rachel: WHAT ABOUT BRITNEY SPEARS? YOU LIKE BRITNEY SPEARS?

YEAH.

Rachel: DO YOU THINK SHE'S CUTE? (Laughter) (Aaron nodding affirmatively) I'M GOING TO ASK YOU A QUESTION THAT WE GOT ON THE E-MAIL ON THE INTERNET TODAY: DO YOU HAVE THE SAME FRIENDSHIP WITH YOUR FRIENDS AS YOU DID BEFORE YOU GOT FAMOUS?

I STILL TALK TO MY FRIENDS ALL THE TIME.

Rachel: DO YOU CALL THEM FROM THE ROAD?

UM-HMM.

Rachel: WHAT DO YOU TALK TO THEM ABOUT?

UHH, I TELL THEM ABOUT, LIKE, HOW GIRLS RUN UP ON STAGE. (Laughter)

Rachel: SOME, YOU KNOW, CRAZY ROAD STORIES?

UM-HMM.

Rachel: PARTYING TOO MUCH?

I WISH I COULD PARTY BUT I CAN'T.

Rachel: YOU CAN'T PARTY BUT YOU SING ABOUT IT. WE'VE GOT A LITTLE GUY OVER HERE WHO WOULD LIKE TO SING TO YOU.

The Crowd: AW!

Rachel: OKAY. ARE YOU GOING TO SING? HE'S A SINGER. THIS IS THE NEXT AARON CARTER. OKAY, SING.

~ It's tearing up my heart when I'm with you ~ ~ But when we are apart, I feel it, too ~ ~ And no matter what I do ~ ~ I feel the pain... ~ (Cheering and Applause)

Rachel: LOOK AT THAT!

IS THAT 'N SYNC?

YEAH.

Rachel: LOOK AT THAT. OKAY, GO SIT DOWN. THAT WAS VERY GOOD, WASN'T IT? LOOK. (Applause and Cheering) YOU ARE, AT THE AGE OF TEN, BECOMING AN IDOL TO OTHER KIDS. THAT'S PRETTY AMAZING. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THAT? YOU'RE -- AT THE AGE OF TEN, YOU ARE AN IDOL. OH, WE GOTTA GET YOUR MIKE FIXED UP THERE. PUT THAT BACK UP THERE. SO DO YOU LIKE -- DOES THAT MAKE YOU FEEL WEIRD, YOU'RE AN IDOL TO PEOPLE?

A LITTLE BIT, YEAH. ACTUALLY, I JUST HAD A BIRTHDAY, TOO, IN DECEMBER.

Rachel: SO ARE YOU --

ELEVEN.

Rachel: YOU'RE ELEVEN. I'M SORRY. I DIDN'T MEAN TO SAY THAT YOU WERE TEN. I DIDN'T REALIZE.

THAT'S OKAY.

Rachel: SO DO YOU FEEL OLDER?

JUST ELEVEN. (Laughter)

Rachel: THAT'S GOOD! THAT'S GOOD! NOW, IF YOU'RE AN IDOL, WHO ARE YOUR IDOLS?

MICHAEL JACKSON AND MY BROTHER.

Rachel: WAY TO GO! MICHAEL JACKSON; HE'S THE MAN, ISN'T HE? HE'S TOTALLY THE MAN. ANYONE ELSE?

UHH...

Rachel: NO. ALL RIGHT. MICHAEL JACKSON AND YOUR BROTHER. OF COURSE YOUR BROTHER. WE'VE GOT A QUESTION ON THE PHONE RIGHT NOW WE'RE GOING TO GO TO. WHO'S ON THE PHONE?

ANN.

Rachel: WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO ASK AARON?

Caller: I'D LIKE TO ASK HIM TO TELL US MORE ABOUT HIS SITCOM THAT HE'S GOING TO BE DOING.

Rachel: SO YOU'RE GOING TO BE DOING A SITCOM.

UM-HMM.

Rachel: I HEARD A RUMOUR ABOUT THAT.

I'M GOING TO BE DOING A SITCOM HOPEFULLY THIS YEAR, SO I LOOK FORWARD TO IT.

Rachel: YEAH? AND WHAT'S IT ABOUT? WHAT ROLE DO YOU PLAY?

UHH, I DON'T KNOW. IT HASN'T BEEN PLANNED YET.

Rachel: HAVE YOU INKED THE DEAL, YOU KNOW, SIGNED ON THE DOTTED LINE YET?

I DON'T KNOW.

Rachel: YOUR MANAGER'S TAKING CARE OF THAT. DO YOU LIKE TO ACT? CAN YOU ACT?

YEAH.

Rachel: SO YOU WANT TO ACT AS WELL. DO YOU THINK YOU WANT TO ACT IN MOVIES?

OH, YEAH.

Rachel: YOU WANT TO BE ON THE BIG SCREEN, THE SILVER SCREEN?

UM-HMM.

Rachel: GOOD FOR YOU! WAY TO GO! DO WE HAVE ANOTHER AUDIENCE QUESTION RIGHT NOW?

HI. I LOVE YOU, AARON. HI. I WAS JUST WONDERING, IS IT TRUE YOU'RE GOING TO DO A DUET WITH YOUR SISTER ANGEL?

WITH ANGEL? NOT WITH ANGEL, BUT MAYBE LESLIE, MY SISTER.

Rachel: HOW OLD IS LESLIE AGAIN?

SHE'S 12.

Rachel: SO SHE'S JUST A YEAR OLDER THAN YOU. THAT'S COOL. THAT WILL BE NEAT. I THINK YOU SHOULD GET THE WHOLE FAMILY TOGETHER, DO SOMETHING TOGETHER. NOW LET ME ASK YOU THIS: TOMORROW IS VALENTINE'S DAY. DO YOU HAVE A VALENTINE? NO? WILL YOU BE MY VALENTINE? I DON'T HAVE ONE EITHER. PLEASE?

OKAY. (Cheering)

Rachel: OH, YOU MADE MY DAY. WE'RE GOING TO GO LOOK AT YOUR VIDEO "CRAZY LITTLE PARTY GIRL" RIGHT NOW. YOU'RE SNOWBOARDING IN THAT VIDEO. I JUST LEARNED HOW TO SNOWBOARD THIS YEAR. CAN YOU REALLY SNOWBOARD?

UM-HMM.

Rachel: YOU CAN? GOOD FOR YOU. LET'S SAY THANKS TO AARON CARTER. THANK YOU SO MUCH. (Cheering and Applause) LET'S CHECK OUT THE PICTURE BEFORE WE GO. YOU DID A VERY GOOD JOB, A VERY LIFE-LIKE REPRESENTATION.

I GOTTA PUT A NOSE...

Rachel: PIERCE HIS NOSE. THANKS, AARON. "CRAZY LITTLE PARTY GIRL," BY AARON CARTER. (Cheering and Applause) (Video Played)
