Author Notes and Explanations: This piece is the prequel to an earlier vignette I posted to the lists entitled "Possession." To be honest, I hadn't really expected much of a response to it and was therefore stunned when many of you wrote me back, wanting more -- in particular wanting to know how Legolas became a vampire. After some delay, I can now present you with the prologue of that story. I am at work on the next part to this but I can't pinpoint exactly when I'll throw it out to the lists. In the meantime, I hope this will answer some of your questions and open up new ones. Or at the very least, be mildly entertaining. For the curious, 'Tsuki no Ie' is Japanese. It means "house of the moon" and is the title of a very beautiful song I discovered that put me in mind of this universe/story/setting, etc. Some of the history (such as dates and such) I pull from both the appendices of the "Return of the King" and from the pages of the "Silmarillion." So this is actually a strange mash of books and movie (with a dash of Greek mythology) and I hope you will forgive me for any liberties taken.
