ICPD Reserves 2001

A Reserve Officer has limited arrest powers, those enumerated under Idaho Code 19-604. Their purpose is to assist the regular officer. Level One (1) Reserves have the same arrest power as regular police officers.

DUTIES AND TASK ASSIGNMENTS OF RESERVE OFFICERS

Members of the Idaho City Police Department Reserves are charged with the responsibility to do the following:
1. Be informed of all local, state and federal laws.
2. Be of any aid and assistance to the regular officer in the duties of law enforcement.
3. Be on the alert for any major infractions of the law at all times and report them to the Police Department.
4. Be observant at he scene of any crime to record evidence in writing and to be prepared as a witness for court.
5. Be aware of and carry out the Officer's Code of Ethics.
6. To read, and follow the Idaho City Police Department's and Reserves Polices and Procedures.


To be eligible for consideration, an applicant must be of good moral character, sound health, and without physical impairment. He must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Must agree to attend all meetings possible, attend all training sessions possible, and at least meet minimum Reserve requirements.

New members will be on probation for twelve (12) months.

Applicants will be reviewed by an oral board, consisting of one (1) reserve officer; one (1) post certified officer, the Reserve Commander and the Police Chief.

Applicants must pass an extensive background check and pass the POST physical agility test.
