History of my Riviera
February 16, 1999
One day I was looking
through some ads for cars in a paper and I came across an ad
that had a 1976 Buick Riviera for $600 a little ways outside of Gran Detour,
Il. So that weekend when I went
out
to look at some other cars I saw in the paper I made an
appointment to go and check this car out. After a full day of looking
at cars and not seeing anything I liked
I almost decided to just go home because this was the last car
I was going to look at and I didn't think this would be much of a car because
of the price. Also it was
out of my way, but I decided to go and look anyway seeing it wasthe last
car on my list. So as I pulled up in the driveway of this elderly
mans house I saw this light blue car
sitting at the end of the driveway. I got out and walked around,
the car had no rust on it, the paint was in good
condition, there wasn't any fading orpeeling on it. The only problems
with the car besides it needing a good tune up was that
the driver side door panel was and still is cracked from age. The
front and rear bumper moldings were
cracked or gone which I have finally found a replacement forthe back but
the fronts are still gone. It needed a little front suspension work
and the manifolds needed to be resurfaced,
but other than that it was perfect. The car only has
had a total of three owners, the man I bought it from, his brother-in-law
who owned it before him, and then me.
So I've had the car since November of 97. Unfortunately
this past November I had an accident, which was my fault. I was hit
by a Blazer in the passenger side. So until
spring the car is sitting in its current condition
in storage where it was going to be put right before this happened.

Well it's been a couple
of years since I've really edited this page but I've been busy working
on my Riv. After the accident I spent that winter, spring, and summer
getting it back on the road, and in the fall it was. I drove it through
the winter of 2000 and in to the spring where in June I pulled the motor
and dropped a 70 455 in it. Well this past winter in 2000 and 2001
I have completely re-done the interior (I will have pictures posted some
day soon I hope). I have changed the passenger bench into a bucket,
I have added a center console, I put in new carpet, fixed all of what was
wrong, painted and cleaned whatever to get the interior to look like it
would comming off the showroom floor. Rims were added to give it
a better apperiance. Next will be some more body work and then I
start the building of my performance motor.
