Beulah Sexton was born June 8,1927 at Alpine, Pulaski County, Ky. The Daughter of Elijah Sexton and Lule Jones. On November 18, 1945 she married Avery M. Turner in Whitley City Ky.
Avery M. Turner was born on June 11, 1921 in Russel Springs, Ky. Avery had just returned from 37 months of service to his Country in the United States Army when he and Beulah married.
Avery's service began at Fort Thomas, Ky on August 12, 1942 after six months of training he was in New Caledonia, then on to Guadacannal. Over the course of the next few years he spent time fighting his way through the South Pacific from Guadacannal to places like Talogie, Samara, Boganville, and finally the Phillipines.
BRONZE STAR CITATION
Private First Class Avery M. Turner 35465221 Infantry United Sates Army. For Heroic achivement in military operations against the enemy at Leyte, Philippine Islands, on 24 Feuary 1945 Private Turner assummed command at the death of his section leader in an action against the enemy. Moving his machine gun into an exposed position, while under hostile machine gun, and rifle fire, he poured such a heavy volume of fire into the enemy that the patrol was able to evacuate its severely woundedwithout further loss.

Avery was also awarded the coveted Combat Infantrymans Badge, Presidential Unit Citation for service with the Marines at Guadacannal, Good Conduct Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon with three battle stars.
Avery not only married into a Family with a rich history of service to their country he enhanced that Family Tradition.
Beulah died just this year (1999), Avery died on October 31. 1990 in Indianapolis, In.
