William Riley Alexander was born in March of 1838 in Wayne Co Ky the firstborn of Thomas M Alexander and Amanda Lair. On October 7th 1858 He married Elizabeth Tuttle at her home. The marriage was wittnessed by Nancy Tuttle, John B. Lair, and John C. Baker. Elizabeth was born in 1836 to James Tuttle and an unknown wife.
The Tuttle Family like the Alexander Family has a rich history in America with the first Tuttle's(Tuthill) coming to America aboard the Planter in the early 1600's.
William fought with I Company 12th Kentucky Infantry of the Union Army in the Civil War.
