Important Ursula facts!

WE ARE FEATURING URSULA HERE BECAUSE YOU VOTED HER "FAVORITE VILLAIN"! IF YOU WANT OTHER VILLAINS TO BE FEATURED TOO, VOTE FOR THEM IN OUR VILLAINS SURVEY NOW!

Ursula, the Sea Witch, is one of Disney's most memorable villains. Her presence is flamboyant and overwhelming. She is charming in that she has a way with words. In The Little Mermaid, Ariel really had little chance to be successful. Ursula has great magic at her command. In fact, her power is probably second only to Maleficent's.

Ursula fans can find her in a few places besides The Little Mermaid movie.

Our favorite villain is a regular character in The Little Mermaid TV series. The TV series it set BEFORE the movie. Ariel has MANY encounters with the Sea Witch! This brings up many questions. If Ariel was familiar with Ursula, her actions in the movie can't be viewed as un-knowing and innocent. Rather, Ariel's actions become selfish, irresponsible, and dangerous. Regardless, Ursula's portrayal in the TV series is true to character, both menacing and entertaining at the same time!

Ursula is FEATURED in Spectromagic. She appears individually, not attached to any float. Her character requires two operators, a driver and a performer! The performer is the character herself, the driver sits in Ursula's body!

Our favorite Ursula sighting was at The Magic Kingdom. During Mickey's Not-so-scary Halloween Party, there was a HUGE inflatable Ursula, maybe 30 feet across, across from Mr. Toad's Wild Ride! She was on top of the old line canopy for the submarine ride! She was only there for Halloween!

She is also featured in Disneyland's Fantasmic!

I'm sure she can be found elsewhere in the parks. Please mail us with other Ursula sightings!

Some of the most interesting Ursula merchandise include;
~ A doll by Mattell (#3 in the Disney Villains series.)
~ A plate from the Bradford exchange.
~ There is a pin with Ursula and her eels, commemorating the first anniversary of "The World of Disney" store (curious choice).
~ Mail us to gloat about your favorite Ursula collectable!

Several (unofficial) sources say that Ursula was heavily modelled after Divine, an actor in John Waters' movies (further discussion of either Waters or Divine is not appropriate here, if you are interested, e-mail us privately). Close inspection leaves most convinced that this is true!

This is Divine....
