The cabinet voted unanimously today to withdraw IDF troops from the security
zone in Lebanon by July.

The cabinet likewise reiterated its commitment to protecting northern residents from the international border following the withdrawal.

"The government will act to ensure that this deployment will be carried out in the framework of an agreement," an official statement said, adding, "In the event that conditions will not be conducive to a deployment in the framework of an agreement, the cabinet will convene at an appropriate time to discuss the method of implementing the decision.''

The cabinet also pledged to assist the South Lebanese Army and all Lebanese people who have helped Israel in the past.
