About this Section

In this section you can check out our home-made, local Soaps. Israel has only PrimeTime soaps. There are none, nor there ever were, any Israeli DayTimes. Being this a small country, there aren't that many Soaps. The page shows the current running Soaps and old ones.

(Please wait until page finishes loading before jumping to the Soap you choose).

Israeli Soaps List

(The "Channel, Day and Time" segment refers to the original time-slot at the time the show aired, for most of the shows)

Cafe Paris

Channel, Day and Time: Cafe Paris firstly aired Tuesdays, at 20:50 (pm - Israel clock). Now it airs Sundays, 21:35 (pm), by "Channel 3" - cable access.

The Story in Short: This is the story of Ester and her two daughters, Didi and Nurit. At the first two seasons the story revolved mainly around "Cafe Paris", which is the cafe-house Ester owns, with her partner, Mickey, but now, at the third season, the story revolves mainly around the office of "Women 2000", the women's magazine Nurit is chief editor of.

The History in Short: Cafe Paris started airing about a year and a half ago. The first season aired and then was re-run on Saturday. The second season aired too, and finished airing. Before the third season started airing, the show was re-run on weekdays, at 17:30. The third season started airing August 30th.

My Ratings for the Show and Thoughts: * * * * * Cafe Paris is truly a terrific Israeli Soap. It's very realistic and down-to-earth. The text is great and not too crazy. The main actress, Esty Zakhaim is terrific.

Ramat Aviv Gimmel

Channel, Day and Time: Ramat Aviv Gimmel airs Wednesdays, at 20:30 (pm - Israel clock), by "Telad", on "Channel 2" - public access television.

The Story in Short: 'Ramat Aviv Gimmel' is a name of a prestigious and luxurious Tel-Aviv suburb. Loosely translated 'Spring Heights C'. It's the story of a family, which owns a fashion/clothing company, named "Opal". It's the story of the family members, their ups and downs, enemies and friends, loves and intrigues.

The History in Short: Ramat Aviv Gimmel started almost two years ago. It's the most rated Israeli Soap. On Wednesday, May 20th, 1998 episode no. 100 was aired. This is the longest running Soap in Israel, then. The last running season is the third one. It ended July 1998 and the forth season starts airing October 1998. The show is currently being re-run on Wednesday's evening - two episodes in a row.

My Ratings for the Show and Thoughts: * * Ramat Aviv Gimmel pretty much Sucks, in my opinion. The acting is so bad, so is the text and because everything is so bad, it so funny and hilarious. I personally watch it for comic relief. Nothing dramatic or really Soapy happened in a 100 episodes and even if something did happen, because it's done so tastelessly, it won't be dramatic or exciting at all. A shame…

Kesef Catlanie

Channel, Day and Time: Kesef Catlanie airs Sundays, at 20:50 (pm - Israel clock), on "Channel 3" - cable access.

The Story in Short: Loosely translated 'Lethal Fortunes', Kesef Catlanie trails the lives of two rich and powerful families, in the diamonds and arms business. It's a very sizzling, luxiurious Soap, filming in Israel, Turkey and Kenya. It's basically the story of the families' full of clashes, drama, love, hate and much, much more lives.

The History in Short: Kesef Catlanie started airing during 1997 sometime. The first two seasons were aired by "Channel 2". When the third season arrived, the show transferred to "Channel 3". The first season was also re-run on "Channel 2".

My Ratings for the Show and Thoughts: * * * I tried watching the show, but in the beginning it was too complicated and I got lost, so I stopped. I do, however, check back once in a while and the show is pretty good. It has very interesting, typical Soap revelations and developments. I think the writers of Ramat Aviv Gimmel can learn a thing or two, although the show tries to be a little too glamorous.

Bat Yam - New York

Channel, Day and Time: Bat Yam - New York airs Thursdays, at 21:05 (pm - Israel clock), by "Keshet" on "Channel 2" - public access television.

The Story in Short: It's the story of an Iraqi originated family, who lives in a town called Bat Yam, which is loosely translated 'Daughter of the Sea' (also 'Mermaid' in Hebrew). One of their daughters studies in New York and the family communicate with her through sending videotapes one to another. It's very comical, full and cute life of this terrific family. The third season centered more around one of the family members, David.

The History in Short: The show started during 1996 or so. The last season was season 2, I think. The new season started airing about mid-July and finished airing during the September of 1998. The show has won several local Israeli Academy Awards for acting and more.

My Ratings for the Show and Thoughts: * * * Although I never watched a complete episode, all the accolades, make me say this is a good one and it is. It's full of humor and drama in a balanced way. It's a very nice show.

Florentine

Channel, Day and Time: Florentine airs Sundays, at 22:30 (pm - Israeli clock), by "Telad" on "Channel 2".

The Story in Short: Florentine is the name of a middle class neighborhood in Tel-Aviv. It's the story of Tootie, Koby, Noga, Maor, Tomer, Igie, Dana, Channan and Tsemer. Ten young people who live in the neighborhood and their humorous, full of drama and developments lives, with the background of actual Israeli reality.

The History in Short: The show finished airing its first season. The show will come back for a second season in the near future. The show won Israel Academy Award for best TV program for 1997. It's currently being re-run on Sunday's night.

My Ratings for the Show and Thoughts: * * * * Florentine is a very good show. It got me to shed a tear once or twice. It is written beautifully and smartly. The characters are interesting and very close to you. I like it.

Zahav shel Shotim

Channel, Day and Time: Zahav shel Shotim aired on "Channel 2", during 1995.

The Story in Short: Loosely translated 'Fools' Gold', it was the story of a family that headed a very successful business company, "Vactor Enterprises". It was simply, the story of the family, their relatives, acquaintances and enemies. Full of developments and interesting business life, facing personal troubles and tragedies.

The History in Short: The show aired three years ago and then was taken off the air after a short while. It was then re-run on Saturdays. The show was originally planned to have 121 episodes, but the ratings didn't allow that to actually happen…

My Ratings for the Show and Thoughts: * * * The show was really good. It was quite nice and had nice storylines. I loved it. I'd hoped they would bring it back one day, but if it didn't happen so far, it won't ever happen and that's a darn shame.

Sapire

Channel, Day and Time:Sapire was aired by "Channel 3" - cable access.

The Story in Short: 'Sapire' is 'sapphire' in Hebrew. It was a semi-parody semi-soap. Israel's "Soap" if you will, but definitely not as good. It was the story of Sapire, a country girl, who came to the big city, Tel-Aviv and found out about big city life. It was the story of that poor girl that found out that her next door, drunk neighbor was her mother! It was the story of her very full of tragedy, revelations and love life.

The History in Short: The show was very short- less than twenty episodes. An episode was only a quarter of an hour. It aired during 1994 and was re-run several times. It was said that it would come back for another season, but it didn't.

My Ratings for the Show and Thoughts: * * * * * Sapire was terrific! It was so hilarious and full of overacting. I'd hoped it would come back, but it didn't. It was very cute.

Chalomot Neurim

Channel, Day and Time: Chalomot Neurim airs Tuesdays, at 21:35 (pm - Israel clock), on "Channel 3" - cable access.

The Story in Short: Loosely translated 'Young Dreams', Chalomot Neurim is a Teen-Soap that trails the lives of a group of high-school kids in a cinema class. It's the story of their lives, mainly the productions and works that go along with the cinema stuff and also their love-life and relationships with each others, and a touch of social issues.

The History in Short: At first the show's pilot aired during 1996. Then a year and a half or so later, the show resumed and its first full season aired on "Channel 3". The show returned in the end of September 1998 for its second season.

My Ratings for the Show and Thoughts: * * Chalomot Neurim is a nice show. Nice storylines and interesting developments. I kinda like it, only being about teenagers, they try to be too cool. If they cut down on the slang usage and concentrate about good substance writing, the show would be a lot better.

Inyan shel Zman

Channel, Day and Time: Inyan shel Zman was aired by "Israeli Channel 1"'s Educational television.

The Story in Short: Loosely translated 'A Matter of Time', Inyan shel Zman was produced by the 'Israeli Educational Television' and was more of an educational show for teens than a Soap, but its development resembled Soaps'. It followed the lives of a group of teenagers from being freshmen to seniors at High School and touched every aspect of teenagers lives- from sex to drugs, from troubles at school and home, through family abuse, love, hate and violence.

The History in Short: The show started airing around 1992 on "Channel 1". It featured many Israeli teenagers' idols, from the music world mainly. The show aired for three years or so and was re-run numerous times during holidays. The show has a spin-off called "Esrim Plus", '20something', which trials the lives of two of the show's character, as adults sharing an apartment in Tel Aviv. The show is currently being re-run on Tuesdays mornings, on "Channel 1".

My Ratings for the Show and Thoughts: * * * The show was nice. Although not much of a Soap nature, it was worth watching. It was very...Israeli and only the Israelis can understand what I mean. I liked the characters and the stories were sometimes overdone and overacted, but mostly done tastefully. The spin-off is much, much worse and pretty much sucks.
