A Ska Preview of Upcoming Shows
2/28/98-MU330
This show is at the Gallery again in Edwardsville. There was
an ok turn out last time they played there for an all ages show. Being
the first all ages show there I dont think many people knew about it.
But now that there are all ages shows there a little more I think a lot
of people might be there. From the band i expect a nothing but good show
from them and plus they will be right in the middle of their tour around the
us so they will bw really fresh you could say. If you need directions then
email me.
2/24/98-Blink 182-Aquabats
Ok so this is a point show. There will be point kids there to Hear
their favorite song from the radio. The reason why i will be there doesn't
even have to do with the fact that Blink is there. Any show with the
AQUABATS is going to be one killer show. With their pyrotechnics to their
superhero outfits it just makes for a great show. Don't get me wrong, i
like Blink and will listen to them to but it will be real hard to because
of them point people. I expect a near sell out but not quite.
2/14/98-Lets Go Bowling
Another show by a big favorite coming to the galaxy this time and
not the Hi-Point. Im not sure yet who's playing with them cause its so
early but the last time they played at the Hi-Point it sold out. Plus they
are going to be on a new label(my favorite:Asian Man). Moon seems like they
dicked them over or at least thats what I heard at there last show. They won't
have a new cd out for this show i believe but they will be on Asian Man for
sure.
2/6/98-Less than Jake + Guest
This is one of my all time favorite bands so you'll think I will
write this raving preview. Well i'm not cause I went to buy my ticket and
was shocked to be shelling out 11 bucks. There isn't anyone else on the bill
and they are charging that much. Sure LTJ does put on one hell of a show i
must say but for 11 bucks? One good thing about it is that its at Mississippi
nights and that place is fairly small so youll be right up there with them.
I am expecting though one hell of a show.
1/24/98-MU330
Let me just say that they are really making the rounds around hear.
They will be in the are in IL and MO for quite a few dates. But hey its
MU330 and they put on a good show so if you have the few extra bucks go
see them. I know i will.
1/18/98-Mustard Plug/Telegraph
This show should be alright. I've seen both of these bands already
and they are very good. I'm a little worried about all the air play that
Mustard Plug has gotten. I really hope I dont see moshing at a Mustard Plug
show. That would be very obvious that ska has gone way to main stream. But
I will be there cause there is no school the next day!
12/29/97-Mega ska show w/10 bands
I am kind of mad that I wont be able to go to this cause it is a
real treat. Its only 5 bucks for ten bands which these days is a steal.
Plus its the last ska show of the year in St. Louis I guess you could say.
This is real good opertunity to see all these local bands play and see if
anyone is worth going to see again. I think is is a must see show and it
would be horrible if you missed it.
12/2/97--Johnny Socko
This is Johnny Socko's CD release party. I already have picked
up the cd at a convention that I went to. I am not sure if it is available
yet in stores. It is a combination of fast upbeat with a slow 2-tone beat.
The show should be very good and all you younger kids I urge to go cause
Johnny Socko doesnt play to many all ages shows. When ever they would play
in Chicago it would be at bars so you had to be 21 or older to go. I am
making a big effort to go to this show even though I have something already
planned.
11/22/97--Buck O Nine/Smashmouth
Do you have something better to do on this saterday night cause
if you do then I urge you to do it and not go to this show. Don't get me
wrong, Buck O Nine is a really good band and I love them to death, but
there is this crap alternative band there that make all the point kids
mosh. I see more moshers then skankers cause of the big name being there.
This is the second time that I've see Buck O Nine on a shitty bill. I
wont be there cause I'm going to Chicago to see SLAPSTICK!!
11/15/97--Pietasters/Bouncing Souls/Limp
This show will be a real treat. With the Pietasters new album
out, it will probley draw a much more diverse crowd which I think really
sucks. I barely listen to the radio and when I do listen I hear them
playing their stuff. Right now though the Galaxy is on my shit list
with what they did to MU330 a while back. The Bouncing Souls are playing
a free show up at Vintage Vinyl on Saterday at 4:00. I really have't
heard to much about these guys so I really dont know what to think of them.
This is also true about Limp. The Pietasters though will put on a good
show and since the shows have been pretty slim lately, I think this is a
must to go to. They have so much material that it will defiantly please
you ska soul.
10/29/97--Gwar/Mephiskapheles
Come on now do i really need to introduce these guys! First
off make sure you bring a crappie shirt cause it wont last long with
Gwar. But what I really want to go for is Mephisskaphles. There phyco
ska is very fun and so should be the show. I do see there being 3/4
of the crowd non ska but for the opening band they are most likely
filling there guts with beer. This should give plenty room to skank.
Its a must if you can afford the ticket. Thats about the only thing
that really sucks about the show.
10/21/97--Regatta 69/Guests TBA
Word has it that it will be a good show. I wish I had some
music to listen to but word from fellow friends they said it will
be a good show. Be there!
10/18/97--The Slackers/Chris Murray/The Adjusters
I think this show would be ok to go to if you had pretty much
nothing to else to do on a Saterday night. The Slackers are a pretty
good band but the rest of the bill doesn't look to appealing. The
Adjusters from Chicago are not at all worth seeing. I saw them them
this past summer and thought they were humiliating. I have no clue
who Chris Murray is. I probley have no desire to ether. I wont be at
the show cause I have no ride but i really dont think I will be missing
much and nither will you.
