Information from thewall-usa.com, from those who knew him:
- Rocky
was the
bravest man I knew. He didn't look like a fierce warrior, but he was.
He was on point and died in hot pursuit of the enemy, with the rest of
us trying to keep up with him and Johny Miller. The NVA were waiting
for them when they charged into a clearing. Rocky died immediately and
Johny was wounded before the rest caught up. We took that mountain, but
the cost was dear. Austin Johnson.
-
John Pell Rackhaus, 2471130, arrived in
country (Vietnam) on April 15, 1969. He was assigned to
the 3rd Platoon of Alpha Company, 1st. Battalion, 7th
Marines. John was a well liked Marine who had a good sense of
humor. In combat, he was a fighter and he often wanted, and would
not hesitate to take the point position. I was John's Platoon Sgt.
and on occasions his Platoon Co. SEMPER FI, MSGT. John C. Little,
USMC, RTD.
