Drafting Myth

hereby declare that I, too,
wish to be a soldier in the army of peace.
I, too, want to be among Saint Yitzhak’s chosen ones.
One of the million ways to perpetuate oppression
And make everyone say ‘truce’.
The ‘children of the candles’ await their turn
to be killed by a Lebanese missile.

He broke arms, deported and appropriated lands
He was responsible for the death of hundreds.
But since the 4th of November he appears in posters
which read “In his death he ordered us peace”.
Still, an entire generation demands war.

Because that’s the only way a strong
leadership is going to grow,
Leading us towards that long sought-after solution:
The occupied territories as a concentration camp,
with the entire world’s approval.

I starve them - for peace’s sake.
I imprison them - for peace’s sake.
I torture and I kill - for peace.
