AAA.- From Cuatitlan, EdoMex. Announcers: Arturo Rivera, Jesus Zuņiga and Andres Maroņas.
*** Alda Moreno, Princesa Sujei and Linda Star vs Martha Villalobos, La Venus and La Briosa.-75% of the ladies at AAA are rudas... or are they? They are if they're facing Alda's team, while, if battling against Brujas, they become proxy-tecnicas... La Venus is slightly taller than Alda and Linda, maybe the same height as Princesas Sujei, she and Briosa have work as partners for a long time.
-- Linda Star and Venus start trading moves, Linda does some moves that should be great, but does them in slow-motion (some armdrags and flying headsicsors), maybe because she's too short and it takes an extra effort to work in the ring for her... then Alda faces la Briosa, next, Princesa is overpowered by Martha, Alda tries to help her out but Tirantes keeps her at bay!! Tirantes lets go but Alda is hair-tossed off the ring!! Martha cleans the ring. Sujei returns to work against Briosa, Sujei ends on the ttb, Briosa tries to slap her, but meets Princesa's foot, Venus gets there but Sujei delivers headsicsors on Briosa+armdrag on Venus, then, the rudas whip her to the corner and Sujei does a side plancha on both... but the rudas catch her! Anyway, Sujei armdrags Briosa, then, makes Venus crash with her partner, who goes out of the ring, Sujei joins her there after drop-kicks, and Princesa Sujei teases a tope! Venus and Briosa duck, Sujei slides and slaps both rudas!! The rudas think that the slap came from the other and start 'fighting'. Martha Villalobos start 'gut shooting' every tecnica on sight, but Alda and her friends take her down with drop-kicks. Venus and Alda go back and forth, Venus gets the better of it (apparently she was working with a injured arm... she soon leaves the ring to be attended by the ringside doctor), Briosa and Martha start the rudas offense, they hang Alda from the ttb, and set the other tecnicas there so that Martha can fat-splash them all!!! All three rudas are in control now with some bodyslams, (fat) planchas, kicks and suplexes. All 6 ladies end in the ring and they start trading (missed)moves and pin attempts, eventually all three tecnicas miss missile kicks and get pinned by the rudas, who take the match.
Somewhat of a surprise here, Alda/Linda/Sujei have beaten Las Brujas consistently, now they lose to this team, while losing to Esther/Migala/Fujitiva some weeks ago. OK short match that helped to get the crowd into, big pops for some spots, even some fat lady stuff.
*** Vatos Locos vs Payasos.-Taking a rest from their war against the Vipers, Vatos Locos will fight now Los Payasos for a while, this serves to return Payasos to being tecnicos, as they had expressed their wish to return to rudos some months ago. Since Coco Amarillo is in semi-retirement, and one of the other Payasos is trying to do a promoter career, this might be Payasos last run...
-- Vatos jump on Payasos during the introductions and take over the offense, they show they've improved a lot, at least, working as a team, they do several 3-men or 4-men moves on los Payasos, including the trademark 4 way drop-kicks!!! Later, Coco Amarillo reacts and the Payasos rally back brawling, things cool down a little and MayFlowers and Amarillo do some comedy spots, more comedy from Manson and Coco Rojo... next, Nygma and Coco Azul start speeding up the match, with Azul dominating el Vato with some armdrags and 'estacas', Negro does more of the same with Picudo... then Manson enters and gets a Gory Special-like with pin over Coco Amarillo!!! Manson then goes for Azul, and tries to perform flying headsicsors, but Azul reverses by spinning him over and over again!! Charlie Manson gives up!! Nygma drop-kicks Coco Azul, and gets him with a tope suicida which almost comes off too short but manages to made contact... MayFlowers also ends in the floor so Coco Negro decks him with a 'vertical plancha'. Coco Rojo and Picudo go at it, Manson enters and fouls Rojo, but it seems that the referees didn't saw him do that, still, both Tropicasas and Tirantes argue with him (but no DQ), 'Kokito' enters and fouls Picudo, and then 'places' Rojo over Picudo, Tropicasas makes the 3 count and Payasos take the match.
A classic 'feud must go on' finish, with Manson and Kokito interfering, Los Vatos Locos are the national atomic champions now, so they should have some matches before going for the title, either at Rey de Reyes or AAAmania. The crowd is with the Payasos, as Kokito has worked for now, think of it as a Payaso Alushe, hope he doesn't go to stink the Minis division with Peso.
*** Espectro jr vs Hijo del Perro Aguayo.- This is for Espectro's national middle weight belt, the match comes from nowhere, imo, since Perrito has been feuding Picudo and Nygma... Picudo, btw, is Espectro's second, while Coco Amarillo is with Perro jr.
1-2-3.- Most of the match consisted of matwork, with both of them trading holds and restholds for long periods, at some point of the match, Andres Maroņas said he was so sure that Perrito would win, that he put his hair (and 2 weeks of working) on the line!!! This fan writing now have just turned into Espectro's biggest mark!!! ----ESPECTRO!!-ESPECTRO!!-ESPECTROOOOO!!!!. Perro jr won the first fall by pin after his double stomp, Espectro forced Perrito to quit in the second fall with a submission move. In the third, Perro looked exhausted, and missed or was slow to make some spots, for instance a pin with bridge, in which his own shoulders were on the mat, Tirantes only counted for Espectro, but he wasn't even able to hold the move. Perro managed to do a tope suicida and theatrically, establish his control in the last part of the match, but Picudo tripped him and Espectro jr took advantage of Perro arguing with the Vato Loco to make the pin with an inside cradle.
Post Match, Espectro jr said he haven't anything to do with Picudo and wanted Perrito to recognize his victory, Perro jr finally accepted and they shook hands... but Espectro jr and Picudo started beating on him!! Eventually old Perro came out and both Perros beated Picudo for a while. Perrito looked too bad in that, he's like what? 21 or 22? Yet, he got tired too fast, so maybe he's still too green and should stick to Atomico's brief 2 minutes of intense offense... oh well, maybe the match lasted 2 hrs (but then why wasn't Espctro jr as worn out) or he was beaten by the Vatos Locos or Espectros at the locker rooms and they didn't show it.
*** Octagon, Alebrije and Heavy Metal vs Pentagon, Electro Shock and Kick Boxer.-
1.- The usual match ups occur, but Televisa edits out most of the fall, Heavy Metal and Kick Boxer work a little better than usual now, as they do some OK moves rather than their classic rolling around the mat struggling... the end comes as Octagon ends sitting in the ttb, then pulls Kick by the hair taking him down and doing a 'planchita' Electro Shock comes to make the save but Alebrije nails him with a plancha from the ttb, and puts him out with a sicker kicks (kicks both Electro Shock's back of the head and chin), Metal pins Pentagon with a Huracanrana.
2-3.- Electro Shock and Pentagon take some bumps for a while and then decided that that was enough so the brawling takes place and the rudos take the fall. In the last fall, both teams trade pin attempts or holds with teammates making the save, eventually, Alebrije does his cartwheel+reverse tope move on Electro Shock, who goes out of the ring, so that the tecnico can deliver an over the top diving tope on Electro Shock! Kick Boxer tries to slide between Heavy Metal's legs, but the tecnico gets him and does a press, then drops Boxer on his shoulder and pins him with a bridge (sort of northern lights suplex), for whatever reason, Tropicasas doesn't make the count and Metal lets go... then, out comes Xochitl Hamada, yes, Xochitl Hamada, she low kicks Pentagon and starts stomping him!! Octagon makes the cover and Tropicasas makes the count, even if there were 3 or 4 foreign persons in the ring (Hamada and some security guys).
WHAT!!!! Xochitl Hamada? The story, according to Rivera (so take precautions at believing it) is that Xochitl and Pentagon are/were emotionally related, and that Pentagon was flirting with one of Blue Demon's girlfriends, so Hamada was angry at him and decided to make something about it... So how does that goes with AAA's booking? Will they made an angle from there, or was it just to make the tecnicos win here? (Why weren't they DQ?) I guess Pentagon might pay the interference at Reina de Reinas, making Hamada lose and keeping her reputation intact...
*** Fuerza Guerrera vs Olimpico.-For the CMLL middle weight title. Villano III is Guerrera's second, Filoso does the same for Olimpico.
1.- They take for ever to start the mandatory matwork, as Fuerza pulls his usual 'shake hand' stuff, this time, he doesn't stage the beating, so they take it to the mat, trading holds with no clear advantage for anyone. At the end, Fuerza Guerrera charges towards Olimpico in a corner, the tecnico tosses him out, but Fuerza lands on the apron, blocks a punch and slaps Olimpico off, goes for the ttb and decks Olimpico with a reverse elbow drop!! A bodyslam and pin later, Fuerza Guerrera takes the first fall. Nice sequence for Fuerza Guerrera at the end.
2.- Fuerza keeps on the offense here, working on Olimpico's left arm and doing some bodyslams, Morales claims every move is a foul... at the end, Olimpico escapes from a bodyslam by landing on his feet, then delivering an armdrag and a high half powerbomb, setting 'el Mosco de la Merced' ready for a 'cristo invertido' submission hold, as Olimpico takes the fall.
3.- Olimpico is still on command with some kicks and faceslams, including one on the access ramp, Fuerza Guerrera stays ringside trying to recover his breath, while Olimpico is celebrating at the corner, cheered by some fans, Fuerza Guerrera sneaks and back drops him, but Olimpico kicks out at 2, next, Guerrera puts him into a low torture rack move, but Olimpico escapes and delivers a rana for a 2 count. Olimpico is tossed to the apron, Fuerza tries to suplex him in, but the tecnico blocks, sends Guerrera away with a slap and nails him with a top rope srpingboard missile kicks!! Olimpico covers but Fuerza reaches the ropes... Olimpico whips his foe to the ropes and then kicks him on the back of his legs, which makes Guerrera go out through the second and third ropes and takes a bump which earns a 'Que barbaro, Que Barbaro!! Don Fuerza!!' from Dr Morales.Next, Olimpico nails the rudo with a tope suicida!! They brawl for a while on the floor before Fuerza gets back, he goes to celebrate climbing the second rope, but Olimpico returns and does a backdrop, Fuerza kicks out at 2... Olimpico gets ready to do another 'cristo' but Fuerza 'fouls' (I think it wasn't a low blow, but maybe for storyline purposes, it was) Olimpico and gets a 2 count after a cradle, Fuerza Guerrera back drops Olimpico and puts him into a 'la campana' hold, but Olimpico doesn't quit and manages to break the hold, to then perform 'la universal' and get the victory over Fuerza.
After that, Morales interviews Fuerza Guerrera, Villano and Olimpico, Fuerza said the young guy had won fairly, but Morales said that Gurrera had made 5 fouls (I couldn't see a single one... well, maybe one), Villano said that Olimpico should have been DQd for slamming Guerrera's head to the metal sheet covered access hall. Olimpico asked for a masks match!!! The match itself wasn't too good, but it helped to make Olimpico a better 'tecnico idol', some people even got to ringside to give him some money.
*** Tinieblas jr and the Head Hunters vs Cien Caras, Mascara Aņo 2000 and Apolo Dantes.- I guess someone is punishing me from saying that I thought that the Steel/Dinamitas/Rayo/Atlantis/Hunters angle was good, now, it is it all over again, but with Tinieblas instead of Rayo, and without Steel...
1.- Some slaps, kicks, outnumbering and then dropping a Head Hunter over Tinieblas jr, and the fall ends at about 2 minutes (so far so good). 2.- More of the same, tecnicos react and brawl, (too bad now, they're over 4 minutes now), things cool down a while and Tinieblitas gets to work on Mascara 2000, then Apolo tries to take on one of the Hunters, the usual fat guy stuff goes on, until at the end, all three rudos are set for a fat splash and tecnicos take the fall. 3.- Cien Caras and Tinieblas jr go at it (and it is supposed to be the main feud...) Tinieblas does short work of Carmelo and sends him out of the ring, it looks as if Tinieblas wants to get him there but Apolo and Mascara get him first with kicks, but then a Head Hunter gut shot them out of the ring and connects a side fat plancha on the rudos!! The other Hunter goes to the top turn buckle (NOOOOO!), his brother holds the rudos and Hunter does a plancha (he hits mainly his brother anyway), so Carmelo and Tinieblas are the only luchadors in the ring, blind foul, 1-2-3, Carmelo wins.
Just as CMLL might be turning Olimpico into Atlantis 2000, Tinieblas might be Rayo 2000, but if anything, no one cares about Tinieblas jr, during the 'mano a mano' with Tinieblas and Cien Caras, the crowd was pretty cold, and the chants heard were 'Carmelo, Carmelo'. Hopefully, Dinamitas/Tineblases-Rayo will have a retirement match and draw at the end of this feud...
*** Dr Wagner 99, Bestia Salvaje and Scorpio jr vs Negro Casas, Mr Niebla and Atlantis.- Next week it will be Santo/Negro vs Scorpio/Bestia for the CMLL tag titles!! Santo and Negro are shown on a video training with Huracan Ramirez (?), they should train hard, in their previous match, they had no teamwork at all... Doctor Wagner Jr is using his zebra mask!!!!
1.- 'Madrugete' by the rudos as they start beating the tecnicos, mindless brawling, without focusing on anyone, just destroying any tecnico near... Wagner 99 puts Atlantis in an abdominal stretch, while Scorpio holds Negro, but Bestia slaps his friend and Negro kicks Wagner, so the tecnicos rally back brawling, things settle down a little as the tecnicos continue on control with some usual stuff on single pairings... Negro kicks into his 'intense mode' and starts kicking everyone, eventually delivering a series of kicks on 'el Galeno del Mal', too bad Wagner eventually intercepts a kick and brings Negro down with a twisting leg takedown, Negro sells an injury and quits while Bestia stomps him.
2.- More brawling, but at least, now it makes more sense, as they work over Negro's leg, the gang tactics last for a while, as the rudos are not willing to let go when Niebla and Atlantis try the reactions, eventually, Bestia and Scorpio take Negro to the announcer's table, where they keep beating him, while Wagner does a half power bomb on Atlantis, and then puts him into a leglock hold, Bestia and Scorpio let Negro there and continue beating Atlantis and Mr Niebla, Negro Casas returns to the ring, and the rudos start doing low drop-kicks to Negro's leg, until Negro moves and Bestia hits Scorpio, the comeback is on... Atlantis works with Wagner, but ends tossed to the access ramp, but before Dr Wagner jr can try anything, Mr Niebla nails him with missile kicks, Scorpio enters but Niebla sends him to the floor with a kick to the back of Scorpio's legs ('segadora'), Niebla goes of an over the top side plancha, but Scorpio jr receives him with an elbow to the chin!! In the ring, Negro is ready to do 'la casita' but Scorpio enters the ring again and clothsline him down, Scorpio powerbombs Negro and Bestia covers for the 3 count as los rudos win on straight falls!!!?!?!?!?!?!?
After seeing this, no one should doubt that Scorpio and Bestia will win the CMLL tag titles... unless Wagner was too good for Niebla and Atlantis to do anything worthy. Who was the most over of the guys? Bestia Salvaje, of course, the crowd would chant 'Perro' or was it 'Negro'?
COMMENTS.- It took 3 shows to CMLL to spoil whatever they had done right on December and January. Dinamitas stuff is marginally good, too bad it doesn't carry any watchable matches there, while the Bestia-Negro-Scorpio-Santo thing has been too long for my taste (the angle started with Santo teaming up with Scorpio/Bestia to take on Negro over 2 years ago!!!) IMO, Santito should have taken Scorpio's mask since last September, and move onto better things, Negro/Santo team looked good at first, but then, hasn't done anything, maybe b/c of their poor rivals. With AAA apparently ending KickBoxer-Heavy Metal thing next month, CMLL should also come to its senses by doing the same with Scorpio. What will happen with Perro? Who knows...
At least AAA/PAPSA is showing 4 matches per show, including the ladies and the minis on a semi-regular basis, somehow, AAA still manages to sneak video-clips-angles and the show itself only last about 1:20, as the Boxing show always ends by 11:10, and AAA is supposed to start at 11:00. I thin AAA will start some new angles at Rey de Reyes or AAAmania, which could be good for them. On the other hand, CMLL is doing the same angles from the early 90's, which is as bad as WCW trying to redo the Ultimate Warrior-Hogan feud... IMO, the Coliseo season was popular b/c of Rencor Latino, Virus, Dr O'Borman, Astro Rey jr, Pantera, Mr Hoy, Kid Guzman and the other undercards, headlined by the trios champs run...
