IWRG from Arena Naucalpan taped April 11th!!!!!!!!(1) ---The end notes are unimportant stuff---

*** Rey Cuervo and Caballero Azteca (2) vs Fantasy and Zonick.- Caballero Azteca is a new guy for this reports page, he uses black trunks and a mask with Aztec-type flourecent designs. I think Rey Cuervo is the same guy as Rey Pantera, they both uses similar outfits, well, maybe they both are a tag team, so that would explain their costumes, but if so, then why we have never seen Cuervo and Pantera??

3.- They join in progress into the rudos double teaming Fantasy, they beat him for some time and then send him out of the ring via double boot to the chest, Zonick enters to be double teamed as well. A couple of punches and slaps later, Zonick ends in the floor also. Fantasy returns to the ring and Rey Cuervo hits dropkicks on his partner, so the tecnicos brawl back. The fall cools down somewhat as both teams return to their respective corners. Fantasy and Cuervo exchange some blows, with Fantasy using a kick to the head to nail the rudo, next, Fantasy used a surfboard-like hold, which Caballero Azteca had to break, Caballero put Fantasy into a double armbar hold, which Zonick broke, Cuervo entered the ring to made it 2 on 1 on Fantasy, as they clotheslined Fantasy, then whipped him to a corner, but Fantasy avoided the corner splash by jumping over them, Zonick hit them both with a side plancha from the top turnbuckle, then Cuervo went out of the Zonick, Fantasy also leaved the ring punched out by Caballero Azteca, Zonick tried a second rope springboard into a tope, but Azteca steped out, and hit an inside the ring quebrada for the 3 count (it looks as if Zonick pushed up twice but was not able to break the pin), Rey Cuervo was back at his corner, Fantasy entered the ring and dropkicked Caballero Azteca out of the way, he then went to the top turnbuckle to try to armdrag Rey Cuervo from there, but Fantasy slipped there and Cuervo slaped him down, and then delivered a senton to get the match!!!

Nice change seeing rudos winning the opener... This is the second time I see Fantasy fall from the top turnbuckle (3), maybe that's why he's been sent to the first matches. Fantasy and Zonick look better than they work, I still hope they improve, they have some nice moves, as for the rudos, they have the attitude, mainly the Fuerza Guerrera style from Rey Cuervo/Pantera, Cabellero Azteca looks like Shu el Guerrero...

*** Mochizuki and Arai vs Slayer and Multifacetico.- Well, now I think that Multifacetico might be the same guy as Mega, they look alike a little, and the first time I saw Multifacetico, I tought that Mega was using a new outfit... who knows, who has seen Mega and Multifacetico at the same time??? Easy booking for IWRG here, they put two foreign workers to do the rudo stuff, so Slayer and Multifacetico can get cheered immediatly. Arai is looking better, now he has a Judo Suwaesque feel to him.

1.- The Japanese workers open the match with a walk out tease!! They stay there, of course, and Arai gets to do some matwork with Multifacetico, unlike earlier shows, this time, they let them trade their stuff, with no partners-entering-to-break-holds, well, Mochi did once, by kicking Mutlifacetico to force him release a 'la de a caballo'. Arai worked some more on Mutlifacetico's legs, then took him to the rudo-Japanese corner to tag Mochi in, but Multifacetico responded with a belly to belly over head suplex (similar to a released northen lights suplex, or something close to that), so he could tag out to Slayer. Slayer and Mochizuki keep trading moves and counters. Mutli and Arai return to the action, they go at a test of strength, but Multifacetico manages to kick his foe and then do on of those run-to-the-top turnbuckle-armdrags, Multifacetico follows with a catapult and (after some edition) a series of armdrags that leave Arai dizzy, so he goes out of the ring. Mochi enters to face Slayer who armdrags him, Mochizuki sends the tecnico to the apron, but then, Slayer hits a headbutt to the gut and tries a diving senton but Mochi rolls out of the way, however, Slayer rolls into his feets and connects second rope springboard missile kicks... Mochi is left laying on his back facing to the lamps, so Slayer slaps the mat three times... Mochizuki 'thinks' it was the referee's count and starts arguing with them!!! Arai enters to be manhandled by Slayer, so Mochi tries to outnumber the tecnico, but Multifacetico hits both with a side plancha from the top turnbuckle, the tecnicos start doing a series of light planchas (4) to finally get the pin.

3.- ---They air an interview with Dr Cerebro, done by Jorge Rodriguez, who is the tv show producer, Mr Rodriguez is the guy who replied to my emails, so I might ask him about not airing 2nd falls...--- Anyhow, the rudos are on control, they beat the tecnicos for a while. Multifacetico evens the fall with a single leg takedown, then a stompt followed by a butt drop! Arai counters with a stompt of his own and then tries the butt drop, but Multifacetico was ready and had his knee there so Arai ended up getting an electric chair!!! He sold the move big comedy time. Mochizuki starts punching and kicking Multifacetico, the now recovered Arai does the same with Slayer and they take the tecnicos to opposite corners, then whip them into each other, they try to do that again but the tecnicos spin around each other and deliver dropkicks, Slayer doesn't connect, but Multifacetico does on Mochi, sending him to the floor, Multi climbs to the top turnbuckle to deliver a... vertical plancha??? In the ring, Slayer takes the match when Arai submits to a giant swing.

It is hard to tell how good the Japanese are since they didn't air the second fall, which was the one they won... Mochizuki has done well before, and Arai looks like a strong rudo, I wonder why IWRG has not push them with Judo, Shiima and Fuji to work into a rudo stable similar to Vipers or Vatos Locos. Well, I think that team could be cool (CRAZY MAX??), but maybe the crowd won't buy it, I guess that's why IWRG is using the older guys to draw heat.

*** Judo Suwa, Dr Cerebro (5) and America vs Kato Kung Lee, Micke Segura and Ultimo Vampiro.- America is using an outit similar to the one Mascara Aņo Dos Mil used some years ago. Judo Suwa is using his '69' Jersey. Dr Cerebro, I think that I forgot to mention this last week, but, shouldn't he been suspended? He tombstoned Star Boy, they gave Universo 2000 4 weeks, two weeks to Cerebro, but he was in the previous week's show (before the 2 weeks were done). Speaking of tombstones, why Maniac Cop didn't get a suspension, and what happened with Ciber Cop? Has he changed his gimmick?

1.- Judo/Kato began with the watwork, Vamp and America followed, and Micke and Cerebro did the same at a faster pace. As in the previous match, no exageratted interference from partners was done, and there was some overselling by Judo (doing a falling tree imperzonation) and Dr Cerebro to some slaps from their opponents. Later, America and Kato exchange some kicks, Ultimo Vampiro gets to work with Dr Cerebro and the fall picks up with Vamp doing some modern lucha armdrags and flying headscissors. Later, Kato sends Judo out of the ring, apparently, he was going for the tope suicida, but America intercepts him with a kick to the gut, Micke Segura charges but misses dropkicks. America whips Segura to a corner, then flings him to another corner, but Micke jumps to the top turnbuckle and backflips to land on his feet... but America gets him with a hard slap to the chest!!! That kind of blows are really painfull and can take your breath away, so Ultimo Vampiro hits a plancha on America, Dr Cerebro enters but Vampiro puts him inot a double armbar hold, Mick Segura gets his air back and delivers a second rope springboard diving tope on America, and then pinned him with a rana, Judo doesn't want to know anything about Kato Kung Lee so the tecnicos take the fall.

3.- ---Jorge Rodriguez interviews 'Matador', the former Halcon Dorado jr.--- The fall starts with Kato Kung Lee trapped into 'la Esquina del Dolor' while America bites his ear!! The rudos beat Kato for some minutes, with the referees preventing the other tecnicos to make the save, later, the brawling is general, as Dr Cerebro and America double team on Ultimo Vampiro, giving him some kicks and back body drops, while Judo Suwa beats Micke Segura. Things cool down a while, as Dr Cerebro and Micke become the only men in the ring, but the rudo is keeping things on hand taking his foe near his corner, so his mates can help him on the beat down. Dr Cerebro has little trouble punishing Micke, but the tecnico gets close to his corner and the tecnicos double team on Cerebro!! The tecnicos rally back, with some brawling. It looks as if America used a limon to throw it juice into the tecnicos' eyes and take the second fall, talk about foreing objects!! I'm not sure if he did, but it seems that the annoucers were saying that, although they didn't air that fall so, I could be wrong. Anyway, he used the juice again to stop the tecnico comeback. Ultimo Vampiro and America were the only guys in the ring, they went back and forth, Vampiro gets the better end and trys to put the rudo into a 'la cerrajera', but both fall to the mat and Cerebro enters to cut UV off, Micke faces Cerebro, Dr Cerebro whips Segura to a corner and follows with a cornersplash. Another whip, but Segura reverses, charges, Cerebro throws him to the apron, Micke slaps Dr Cerebro off and goes to the top turnbuckle, so Micke hits a top turnbuckle diving flying headscissors, which sent the Doctor out of the ring, allowing Micke to NAIL his foe with an over the top rope somersault plancha, Micke landed on the Doc and then went over the barrier to fall on his feet, Ultimo Vampiro delivered another over the top somersault plancha, America actually catched him, avoiding the tecnico to fall on his head to the floor... nice for America to do so... In the ring, Kato uses a spinning choke hold to force Judo Suwa to submit.

Judo Suwa took the High Power tourney before the immdiate last by beating Kato Kung Lee, so I guess they feuded after that, then Kato went to fight Taru (III), and now it seems he will go back to his feud with Judo. Where was Star Boy this time? They forgot about that, will he turn into a tecnico?

*** Shiima Nobunaga, Bombero Infernal (w/Fireman) and Maniac Cop vs Matador (7), Salsero and Super Parka.-

1.- Rudos jump on the tecnicos even before the match has started, Fireman helps Bombero to beat Salsero, the battle goes on out of the ring, after a short time, Bombero takes Salsero up to the ring as he keeps punishing Salsero. Shiima and Maniac Cop join Bombero Infernal beating Salsero, then working on Super Parka and Matador, while Fireman and Bombero Infernal gang up on Salsero on the ringside, using a camera cable to choke the tecnico. Eventually, Scorpio comes out to ask Fireman to leave the Arena, so they take a lot of time arguing, and the tecnicos recover a little. Maniac Cop hits a plancha on Supre Parka to get the 3 count, then, Bombero Infernal uses a Tequila Sunrise 1.5 (6) to force Matador to submit as the rudos are awarded with the first fall.

2.- The tecnicos reacted before the second fall started, then, they went to a break, back into the action, Salsero hits a tornado DDT on Bombero Infernal, then some kicks and chops... Super Parka gets to work with Maniac Cop, Maniac whips the tecnico to a corner but SuperParka reverses, SParka charges but Maniac throws him away, but Super Parka remains upsidedown on the top turnbuckle! Maniac Cop doesn't know what to do and throws the tecnico to the apron, but Super Parka hits a headbutt to the rudo and climbs to the top, but misses a twisting bodyblock plancha, Super Parka complains about the ring being to though and both of them inspect the mat... all 6 guys get there to see what's wrong with that... it is all a trick by the tecnicos as they dropkick all of the rudos out of the ring and then tease a triple tope suicida, which makes the rudos crash into each other!! Shiima faces Matador, the Japanese rudo flings his opponent to a corner, but Super Parka jumps of the top turnbuckle ' to cushion the impact', Shiima tried another corner, but this time Salsero did 'the save'. Matador reverses another attempt and then teases flinging Shiima to a corner so Bombero goes over the top turnbuckle, then the same happens with Maniac Cop, finally, Matador teases another corner whip, so both rudos try to make the save on the same corner and they collide!! (They've already done that before.) Shiima whips Matador to a corner but then the tecnico hits him with double boot to the chest, and goes for a sunset flip pin, Bombero and Cop reverse the pin, Salsero and Super Parka follow suit, then the rudos, then the tecnicos, then the rudos, next the tecnicos go there... and don't do nothing, so the rudos get there and put Matador on top!! Shiima is defeated while double hurracaranas put the rest of the rudos out by pin.

3.- They join in progress to the third fall, and all of the guys are running around the ring, all of the Mexicans stop while Shiima keeps running for a while... suddenly, he realizes that no one else is running, and ALL FIVE luchadors start slapping Shiima who goes out of the ring and jumps to the crowd to join some Japanese people there. In the ring, Matador does his bullfighter spots with Maniac Cop, but the Cop is not buying and starts punching and choping his foe, who reacts with a couple of armdrags, and a quebradora con giro. Salsero tags in, but Infernal gets him with dropkicks, chop, chop, chop, clothesline attempt, Salsero ducks and connects a kick to the face, stunn... no, well, stunner after all, then segadora... Later, more bullfighter spots with Matador and Shiima, Nobunaga whips the former Halcon Dorado jr to a corener but gets double boot to the chest when trying the splash, Shiima flings Matador again and charges, Halc... Matador throws him over the top rope, but Nobunaga lands on the apron, so Matador slaps him off there... Shiima: the rudos NEVER, NEVER land on the apron, you have to go to the floor there. Bombero Infernal and Salsero face off again, soon, the tecnico had Bombero into an abdominal stretch, so Nobunaga and Maniac Cop had to enter to kick Salsero off the hold, both Salsero and Infernal go out of the ring as Super Parka and Matador re-enter the ring. The rudos get headlocks, but can't get to smash the tecnicos into each other, Maniac Cop and Matador ended on the floor. They did a comedy spot that really made me go ROFTL (8). Salsero and Bombero Infernal are in the ring again, Bombero is put into a double armbar hold, but Fireman arrives and spits fire on Salsero so the tecnicos get the match by DQ, Salsero sold the burn big time.

*** Pirata Morgan (champion/w Bombero Infernal) vs Mascara Sagrada (original, challenger /w Super Parka) for the IWC heavyweight championship.- I was a little confused here, the week before this recap was done, they said that Pirata Morgan was the IWRG light Heavyweight champ, I think that Pimpinela is the owner of that belt right now... now they said that he was IWC champion, wasn't that the guys that worked with AAA in California??

1.- They take a loooong time before getting into the match. Lots of armbars, hammerlocks, a snapmare here, an armdrag there... Pirata Morgan takes Mascara to his corner while Super Parka discusses something with the referee, so Bombero can throw some punches at Mascara Sagrada. Sagrada re-composes and starts working on Morgan's left leg, but he gets too close to the rudo's corner so Bombero Infernal reaches and grabs Mascara Sagrada's leg, allowing Pirata to take control of the fall once again, Super Parka goes to face Bombero, but they don't get into a fight... yet... Next, Pirata uses a headlock on Mascara, who counters with a 'leg breaker' and puts Morgan into the 4 figure leglock, after some time, Pirata manages to reach the ropes. Mascara doesn't want to let go so the referee had to undo the hold (instead of DQing). MSagrada keeps working on Morgan's left leg, with a couple of dropkicks to the knee and the a STF (I guess), once again, Pirata tried to get to the ropes, but Bombero had to enter to break the hold, Super Parka chased Bombero... Morgan with a headscissors-armdrag hold, Mascara won't quit, Mascara Sagrada kicks Morgan's leg again. Then... well, they go back and forth, Pirata with some shoulder blocks and clotheslines, Sagrada working on Pirata's leg, the official time for the fall was 17'10", pretty long (I guess it was edited for TV), the end had Bombero Infernal tripping Mascara so Morgan could uses a four figure deathlock to get the fall.

2.- Pirata Morgan misses dropkicks, Mascara deliver quebradora con giro, then uese a rana to pin Morgan, the second fall lasted less than half a minute! 3.- Join in progress: Pirata Morgan tries to climb into the ring but Mascara Sagrada kicks him off, Pirata is juicing quite a lot now... while Mascara is clean... Pirata takes a lot time to return to the ring, and when he does, Mascara uses a small packagae to get a close fall. Mascara dropkicked the rudo out of the ring (now Mascara has a lot of blood on his outfit) and then nails Morgan with a tope suicida, Pirata ended in the first row, but hurried back into the ring so Mascara could do the 'la cavernaria' hold, but the referee did break the hold arguing an illegal choke. Dropkicks to the face, quebradora con giro and missile kicks from Mascara Sagrada with corresponding near falls, Pirata gets a 2 count after reversing a hurracarana. Morgan with a brief offense, stopped by a blow to the gut, Morgan claimed it was a foul, the referee was willing to declare the DQ but at the end didn't, Mascara Sagrada with a diving from the top turnbuckle elbowsmash to get another 2 count. A 2 count for Pirata after a reverse tope, some clotheslines... Sagrada didn't sell (hulking up?), Mascara decks Pirata Morgan with a clothesline of his own, but then misses a top turnbuckle moonsault, so the rudo gets another near fall, but follows with 'la universal'(9) hold to force Mascara to quit!! Morgan keeps the belt as the cage mask vs hair match is under way for April 21st (to be aired on the 29th).

Weird match for a couple of things: Blood, it is unsual on title matches, and the one juicing was Pirata Morgan, since Morgan hair is pretty short right now, I'm starting to get the feeling that Mascara Sagrada might lose his mask... could it be? I have the feeling that I'm wrong, but could happen, I think that Mascara Sagrada left Pirata in bad shape to show how much he wants the title, but maybe he was also hinting a rudo turn? Might be, but the crowd would cheer him anyway, since he's attacking Morgan... I guess I'm trying to look more than the facts here, so I guess Pirata will end shaved and Mascara Sagrada will keep being tecnico for a long time.

ENDNOTES

1.- Aired by ESPN2/PCTV on April 15.

2.- I think that many guys have used the Caballero Azteca before this one, I'm not familiar with this guy in IWRG.

3.- This time was on the third fall, the other time, he slipped off since the ending of the first fall, so he left his partner outnumbered for most of the match, if it wasn't for Caballero Azteca having Zonick already defeated, I could believe that Rey Cuervo got mad at Fantasy for screwing the move and that's why he slaped him off.

4.- Low planchas, or somtthing like that, those are planchas done from the mat, not from the ropes.

5.- Just like Dr Wagner jr, Dr Cerebro music is Bad Medicine, the annoucers even talked about it, saying that the song is from... Van Halen!!!! OTOH, Micke Segura, despise being tecnico, has a cool intro song: Helter Skelter (from the Motley Crue 'Shout at the Devil' album, not by the Beatles).

6.- It is similar to the Tequila Sunrise, but has double armbar hold instead of single armbar.

7.- Matador is Halcon Dorado jr with a new gimmick, which is another bullfighter thing. So now, all three promos with TV show have a guy with that gimmick (Matador-iwrg, Novillero-AAA and Torero-CMLL)

8.- Well, not really ROFTL but close to: Super Parka started dancing while Shiima did the crotch shots, Shiima danced a little but Parka charged and run to the ropes, but Maniac Cop tripped him and pulled Super Parka out of the ring, he held Super Parka down there, but Shiima signaled to 'take him farther', so Maniac Cop pulled Parka untill they got to the barrier, Shiima asked for more distance, so Maniac Cop went to the other side of the barrier, the people starting moving away... even more asks Shiima, so the Cop drags Super Parka over the barrier as they both stand on the crowd are, Shiima runs to the ropes... and Matador trips him and pulls him away!! Very stupid stuff which was really unexpected, or at least, I've not seen that.

9.- I got that from Enrique Llaņes, the CMLL annoucer, he always call that kind of holds 'la Universal', which is a hold similar to a 'cristo invertido' or an octaclutch. In Mexico, the holds are called 'llaves', so a 'llave universal' is also a tool which works for several purposes, so I guess Llaņes calls everything he doesn't know how is named 'llave universal'.
