AAA.- From Monterrey N.L (sept 20)
***Kamikazis vs Insectos.- For the record, the Insectos are: Abeja, Avispa, Mosca and Hormiga, while the Kamikazis are: Goku, Ziraiya, Tobikage and Lyguila... this show aired on Nov fourth, but takes place two days after the Verano de escandalo event. During that card, the japanese team stated they would be fighting as rudo...This feud continues and seems it will last for a while more, unfortunately, I guess this won't make it out of an undercard angle...
1.- Mosca starts dominating... some guy, with a slow paced secuence of ok moves, next Goku faces one of the insects but soon a brawling errupts... with the Kamikazis commanding it! The japanese team up to make a 'desnucadora' outside of the ring on Mosca, and then, start stomping and kicking him, DQ? DQ! Kamikazis lose by 'exeso de rudezas'! But Mosca has to be stretched out...
2.- The japanese keep in command while Zuņiga talks about Dragonball, the inevitable reaction comes after the also inevitable japanese mistake... the mexicans take the offense with planchas, quebradoras, armdrags and tijeras, but Goku takes Avispa into...la esquina del dolor and more brawling errupts, with the Kamikazis winning the fall even after missing some moves... before the third starts, they 'encostalan' la Hormiga and and use fly swatters on him... Hormiga is also stretched out...
3.- So it is 2 on 4 now, the Kamikazis are in control, but the two insectos react and clear the ring, Goku enters and kicks-fouls Avispa, so Abeja fouls Goku, and they get the DQ, the japanese look really happy with their victory and next, they beat the remaining insectos, no one makes the save and Abeja is left bleeding...
This was not a bad offering, the Kamikazis did a great job establishing themselves as rudos, and it is a shame the Insectos did not got over with the crowd, they might go tecnicos, they did some good moves, while the Kamikazis missed some, mainly, two different japanese failed in deliver 450° splashes...
*** Batos Locos vs Hijo del Perro, Blue Demon jr, Parka 'jr' and Hator.- Hator is a local wrestler from Monterrey and I guess this was his first time this high in the card... Los Batos: Charlie Manson, Nygma, Picudo and Paul Stanley... I mean, Mayflower. Los Batos take a break from their feud against Vipers, I really liked this match in the way that this resembles the traditional 'rudos vs tecnicos' style, something missing in AAA for some months now. The feud here is the Picudo and Perrito, Picudo lost his masks and hair to Perrito a while ago, and he seems to want another chance to get Perro shaved...
1.-Picudo and Charlie start by viciously slamming Perrito's head in a cornerpost, the brawling starts and Batos are getting the better of it. They clear the ring with only Perrito in it, and perform the Bato's traditional quadruple dropkick... they do a 'carreta' on Parka and as always, the tecnicos recover and start brawling, Aguayo jr goes after Picudo, and Parka spins and delivers a backdrop on Manson, finally, a Frankestainer plus Parka's legdrop from the top turnbucle plus Perro's double stomp on Picudo makes the tecnicos win.
2.- Things slow down as Hator wrestles Mayflower, next, Demon jr is armdragged out of the ring by Charlie, Charlie tries a baseball slide but Demon dodges it, and goes up the ring again to perform a slide of his own, he hits the back of Manson as he was arguing with the crowd, and oversells the kick, flying into the crowd... Batos can get back into the match as Parka easily manhandles Nygma... Perrito enters and Picudo tries to face him, but Mayflower holds him back, Picudo is released but he can not get anything on Perro and is thrown out of the ring, Perrito teases a tope. At last, Paul... I mean Mayflower takes Hator to la esquina del dolor and the Batos get in command, Tirante holds Blue Demon, so Charlie takes him into a 'denucadora' and makes him summit with a crab, Parka gets superpowerslamed and pinned by Nygma and they are awarded with this fall, the brawling continues...
3.- Batos keep brawling and after a while the tecnicos react with some brawling of their own, Demon and Picudo are in the ring, Blue uses a 'tijeras' on the rudo to send him down the ring, Perrito inmediatly does a tope which barely connects with Picudo, next comes Charlie with a very fast and impressive tope on Perro jr, the impact was directly on Perrito's chest, then, Hator does a simple plancha from the topturnbuckle, followed by another tope by Nygma, the dive sequence ends with Parka in an over the top dive, Mayflower was ready to attemp a tope of his own, but Demon did a plancha on him instead, out comes Abismo Negro, who takes Demon mask off and throws it to Mayflower, the referees DQ the Batos locos, but no one is happy with the outcome of the match, Abismo uses his aerosol/lighter to keep the Batos at bay, untill Hator makes a backbreaker on him and Abismo flees the ring.
I liked this match, it has a lot of brawling, but less than most of AAA does now, I wonder if Charlie Manson might get into a feud with Blue Demon jr. Picudo and Perro jr might have a hair match soon... Abismo's run in was a good way to end the match without having the Batos or the tecnicos losing clearly.
*** Cibernetico, Abismo Negro and Kickboxer vs Latin Lover, Heavy Metal and Alebrije... Alebrije receives another big push in this card, in 'box y lucha' publication, this was schedchuled as the main event... The rudo team has the three main rudos in AAA today, so this should be interesting, Lover is Mty. native so he gets a big pop. The feud here is Latin vs Ciber, in another card (in Ciudad Acuņa, Coah. sept.22) they should have held a cage match. And of course, Kickboxer and Heavy are involved in one of the bigest feud in AAA for the last year or so. If Octagon had wrestled instead of Alebrije, this could have been the bigest match AAA could hope to put together, unfortunately, they are not that good workers...
1.-Latin works the crowd more than he works his skills in the ring, he faces Ciber consistently, while Kickboxer/Heavy Metal and Alebrije/Abismo Negro do the same. Heavy is a great luchador but with this feud against Kickboxer, he has been wasted, he mostly punches and kicks... in the Abismo vs Alebrije segment, Alebrije tries a forward sault on Abismo from the apron to the floor, but the Viper simply ducks, and Alebrije gets nothing but the floor... still, the tecnicos manage to win the fall with a plancha from Latin on Cibernetico, and a rana for the pin.
2.- Slow paced action continues... until Ciber and Kickboxer team up on Heavy and they control the fall brawling, the tecnicos react and Abismo loses his mask for some moments as he battles Alebrije, Alebrije performs a tope on Abismo, but it was not as good as in the Batos match...Latin and Ciber in the center of the ring, Latin starts running around untill Ciber gets tired and turns his back, but gets drop kicked and goes down to the floor, Lover performs an over the top rope side plancha on Ciber, Heavy punches Kickboxer and does a press slam, Alebrije and Abismo enter the action, but Blue Demon Jr takes Abismo's mask off, so Alebrije pins him for the win... guakala de pollo.
This was pretty lame, first, the moves were not that good, and the ending was dumb, Abismo Negro was not the captain, but with him being pinned the rudos lost the match, Tirantes saw Demon's run-in, but he did not say anything, and worst yet, at the end, Demon was with the other tecnicos in the center of the ring to get his hand raised by Tropicasas, but Demon was not in the match... that sucks...the only rediming quality of this particular match, is that the crowd was really responsive.
*** Cage match.- Furia Norteņa vs Vipers.- It looks this WAS the main event, so it shows how poor the tecnicos are right now, at least in AAA... the 'Furia Norteņa' is an anti-viper group with Sangre Chicana (he is suposed to be leader of Batos Locos also) Sanguinario, the Panther and Hijo del Cobarde (Cobarde Sr. has an injured knee and could not take place in the match). I guess everyone wants to see cage matchs live, so AAA is using them as often as possible.
Vipers are celebrating their first year aniversary, and they give Zuņiga a cake as the commentator is considered 'Viper'. The Furia Norteņa team keeps the command of the match in their hands for almost all the event, the Vipers seemed more concerned about getting out of the cage rather than brawling with their foes, Hysteria is the first to escape, next, Maniaco, but the Vipers are left to go 2 vs 4. Maniaco and Hysteria throw into the cage, the components of a table, but they keep out instead of reentering the cage, so the base of the table is used by Panther to hit Psicosis, but he dodges and Cobarde jr gets the attack instead, using the base, Psicosis and Mosco manage to even the match, and after asembling the table, Psicosis puts Panther on it and does a senton from the top of the cage... and quickly escapes the cage... poor Mosco is left alone, and he gets beated badly, although, he got close to escaping twice... here comes Ciber, but the Vipers don't enter, they seem to have a conference... here comes... two guys... they fight with the Vipers while Mosco still is alone, 'Vipers' chants can be heard. Next, the Batos Locos arrive, they confront the Vipers, Mosco is bleeding, Mosco is hanged upside down and Manson pulls Mosco's foot out of the cage, so he is there hanging, the Batos stay in the corners to avoid Vipers from entering and the Furia gets out and win the match...
They finally open the cage but Mayflower and Nygma enter to keep kicking Mosco, Vipers jump into the cage so at last Mosco is rescued, Picudo steals Zuņiga's cake, Mosco is stretched out of the cage... the Vipers are mad with the cake stealing, and they don't look very happy with Arturo Rivera either... In the locker room, the doctors are checking Mosco and Vipers (especially Ciber) look upset, the Batos Locos get there, and more brawling occurs, but Abismo Negro uses the lighter aerosol to drivve them away... and the show ends.
Comments.- This was far from the best AAA could offer now, but considering that many luchadores were missing (Octagon, Pentagon, Electroshock, Heavy Dracula, Venum, Cuerno de Chivo, Niņo de la Calle, el Novillero, all of the women, etc) this was somewhat a decent effort, the cage match was a let down, the senton to the table secuence took too long to set up and the crowd get mad with that, by the way, the crowd here was loud, I don't know if it was for the use of micros or something like that... I guess I will be attending the AAA show (october 17), I don't know if it is being televised, if it is I could take a sing to promote this site, but it is kind of hard to make a sing that says: "visit 'la esquina ruda' htttp://angelfire.com/il/diaban/Main.html"...
EMLL.- From Arena Mexico. (Oct 20)
***Mr Aguila, Hijo del Solitario and Olimpico vs Ultimo Guerrero, Zumbido and Halcon Negro.- Aguila and Guerrero have the undercard feud of the year, so they carry this match, however, Olimpico is receiving a big push, and Zumbido is the next prospect to be produced by 'grupo cibernetico'. Hijo del Solitario is one of the biggest disappointments, but he is not really bad, he just can not match the achievements or the charisma of his late dad. Halcon Negro surprised me, I didn't care for him in his past efforts, but he is good, I think he needs a new gimmick or look.
1.- Aguila and Ultimo start the match, next Hijo del Solitario and Zumbido, then Olimpico battles Halcon Negro, Halcon is out of the ring by tijeras from Olimpico, who then performs a forward sault plancha on Halcon, meanwhile, Aguila doesa a corkscrew plancha from the top turnbuckle onto the ring on Ultimo to get the pin, and Soli powebombs and pins Zumbido, the tecnicos take the first fall easily and fast.
2.-I thought that the tecnicos had won very easy the first fall, so that the match will last only 2 falls, as they might be getting a push, but soon the rudos started doing great team work, in fact, I would say they were the best trio team work I've seen in a while, Ultimo started holding Soli in a 'desnucadora'-like hold, Zumbido jumped from the corner in a reverse elbowdrop and Halcon did a legdrop from the top rope on the fallen Solitario who leaved the ring, next it was the turn for Mr. Aguila, he got collectively press slamed, and Halcon and Ultimo perform elbow drops from the second turnbuckle at the same time on Aguila, who then is kicked out of the ring, Olimpico enters but there is little he can do besides getting triple dropkicked out of the ring, the rudos tease a tope, then Halcon runs as if going to do a tope, Olimpico ducks, but Halcon chestslides and gets Olimpico in a sommersaultflip in the floor... Hijo del Solitario returns to the ring, but Zumbido pins him after a moonsault from the topturnbuckle, Ultimo Guerrero does a series of slams/judo moves that remind me of King (from Tekken 2) and pins Mr Aguila. The team work of the rudos was really impressive, if they are the result of the grupo cibernetico, then CMLL can be sure they are going to have many stars in the future.
3.-Rudos still on command, but now, with more brawling and less teamwork, at last, Olimpico drop kicks on Ultimo and Halcon, so the tecnicos react, Soli performs an over the top sault plancha on Zumbido, and once again, Ultimo misses a knee splash and gets out of the ring in that Shawnmichealesque way, to get in position for Mr Aguila to do one of his twisting planchas... inside the ring, Olimpico jumps on Halcon, as if going for a Hurracarana, but he gets powerbombed and pinned instead, so los rudos take the win!!!
I guess this was close to the best you can hope for an undercard match to be, I have little doubt about the luchadores talent, the only weak team about them (mainly the rudos) is their outfit...
*** Ricki Santana, El Boricua and Gran Markus vs Head Hunters and Shocker.- So the caribeans are still around... don't get me wrong, I think the Hunters and even the boricuas are ok, but seeing them over and over agian... This is nothing but a card filler, and it did a poorly job at that, it upsets me that they kept this match, considering that last weeks the omited to include the Steele/Dinamitas vs Rayo and Hunters, which had the return of Pierroth. They could have included here one of the Coliseo matches...
1/2.- The dominicans are too fat for the rudos to handle, Shocker manages to do an over the top sault plancha on Markus but that is about it for the first fall, which the tecnicos win... in the second, the rudos start dominationg, one of the Hunters gets ready to do a plancha on a boricua, but gets kicked down the ring, the other boricua does a plancha, but hits his partner when the dominican moves away, next comes the other Hunter in a plancha, but the boricuas move away and the two brothers collide, the rudos punish Shocker and press slam him out of the ring onto the Hunters for the DQ...
***Scorpio jr, Bestia Salvaje and Fuerza Guerrera vs Hijo del Santo, La Fiera and Felino.- Where was Negro? The original angle was that Scorpio and Bestia wanted to finish Negro... and Santo JOINED them but then, he turned on the rudos... so the Negro missing in this match makes little sense. Santo should also had been off this time, he was really hurt (I don't think it is an angle) from a masks match held in Ciudad Juarez.
1.-Rudo brawling, more brawling, even more brawling (is this AAA?) rudos get the first fall...
2.- Brawling continues... and goes on, La Fiera reacts and a tecnico brawling errupts, tecnicos get the win with a moonsault just like Zumbido's onto Fuerza, while Santo fighted Scorpio on the floor...
3.-The last fall was very much like the other two, it had some ok moves but nothing too especial, Santo and Felino perform tijeras, Felino does a move which consist of him running and climbing to the second turnbuckle, and jumping out of the ring in a sault plancha, this time he didn't perform it as fast as he always do... next La Fiera does a tope dive over the top rope, but Bestia summits Santo with a 'Scorpion death lock'.
This was far from the previous matches including Santo, the brawling included some lucha moves, so they were not really AAA style, but still it had not the speed or intensity of the other matchs. Bestia winning over Santo might mean he is going to lose his hair before Scorpio loses his mask...
***Emilio Charles, Atlantis and Rayo de Jalisco jr, vs Mascara Aņo 2000, Pierroth and Stone Cold Apolo Dantes.- Pierroth returns to the lucha in Arena Mexico unmasked... he gets back as Rayo's rival, actually, the arch rival of Pierroth 7 or 8 years ago was Mascara Sagrada (original), but Rayo should do for now. CMLL continues to do the 'video clips' with the wrestlers talking about the angles, I have complained about Emilio, but Rayo makes him look like Lawrance Olivier.
1.- Madruguete on Atlantis and Rayo and Emilio is left in the ring with the rudos, Dantes and Mascara were his partners during the boricuas feud, and now seem to want Charles to join them, but he won't and gets punched and kicked around the ring, in short, the rudos get the fall after some brawling (but with some elbow drops, powerbombs and a suplex) and pinning all tecnicos.
2.-More brawling, then, the brawling continues, but it is tecnico brawling again, Rayo powerbombs Pierroth, but at the 2 count, moves him away. Emilio faces Mascara and does some tecnico stuff, Rayo pins Mascara with a perfectplex, Atlantis forces Apolo to surrender after a dropkick from the corner and a sumision hold to the neck and arms. Pierroth flees the ring...
3.- More average action with no team in command, Emilio seems to get the better results from his segments vs Pierroth, and if I was not convinced enought that he is a response to Perro Aguayo, he does a 'silla' on Pierroth. Rayo slams Apolo and again at the 2 count moves away, Atlantis uses the Atlantida on Mascara so the rudo quits, but Pierroth pins Rayo with a rolling after a Rayo plancha on Apolo.
Comments.- Just like in the AAA show, where was Negro, Blue Panther, Dr Wagner, Villano III, Black Warrior?, etc. From all the four shows I have reported, this was the weakest. I hope CMLL realizes they have to push their good small talent, rather than their unespectacular 'heavies'
Pierott's match was a solid way to reintroduce him into action, but it bothers me that they did not show the previous match in which he helps Steele, maybe it was too much mayhem to show, but I guess it could have made tv fans more involved...In the other hand, Santo's match lacked of any surprise, having Felino turning rudo, or even turning out that Negro Casas was in Felino's suit and turning on Santo or ANYTHING!!!!
AAA.-
*** Cibernetico, Abismo Negro yKickboxer vs Latin Lover, Heavy Metal y Alebrije...

EMLL.- From Arena Mexico. (Oct 20)
*** Ricki Santana, El Boricua y Gran Markus vs Head Hunters y Shocker.-
