***Niño de la Calle, Chivas I and II vs Llorona, Cadaver de Ultratumba y Hijo del Espectro .- October has been billed as the 'mes del terror', it looks that with the shows taped in Zacatecas (16), Durango (18) and here in Torreon (17) they will make the Nov. 1 show in tv, so the Espectros are very busy right now.
1.-Average action, the first fall must have had taken too long, as all of the sudden, they have Niño being press slammed into the topturnbuckle by Hijo del Espectro. Some brawling, Chivas react, one of the Chivas hits Espectro with an over the tope side plancha, Niño does a sommerflip plancha from the topturnbuckle to the outside of the ring on Llorona... tecnicos take the first fall.
2.-Brawling, with Niño being punished a lot, he is slammed into the cornerpost, and bleeds, one of the Chivas takes Niño out, but Espectro jr shows and takes Niño back to the ring to keep punishing him, Alebrije arrives and makes the save.
1.-Mostly a comedy match, with Peso making the rudos look dumb, Dollar side plancha on the three rudos (so much for the 'big luchadores can't touch minis rule) and get the pin.
2.-Rudos try to react but the tecnicoes seem to have the match in control, Abismito fakes a foul by Peso and Tirantes gives the rudos the DQ win.
3.-I was more entratained with the commentators comedy stuff than with the match, anyway Abismito is in the ring and Dollar attacks him with his belly, Abismo goes to Tirante to ask him to DQ the tecnicos, he almost does, Abismito is down the ring and Dollar lifts Peso and throws him in a plancha onto Abismito, then Abismo 'slips' and fell down to the floor and gets semi-plancha by Dollar. Novillero almost connects with a plancha from the topturnbuckle to the floor on Cuerno. Abismito and Peso in the ring... An armdrag by Peso, and Peso fakes a foul, the rudos lose the match! Cuerno attacks Svilla and soon the three rudos are kicking him,
Dollar tries to make the save but he's too fat to keep the pace with the rudos.
***Payasos vs Vipers.- For the National Atomicos tag team title.
1/2/3.- Being a championship match, this had almost no brawling... almost. Payasos are awarded the first fall acter using several sumission holds on the Vipers. In the second fall, Vipers do a little brawling and even the score. In the final fall, Ciber and Abismo show up and take two of the Payasos into the locker room, the referees did not see Abismo or Ciber, and the Vipers could easily beat los Payasos.
***Heavy Metal, Alebrije and Octagon vs Cibernetico, Pentagon and Espectro jr.- AAA has a weird way of booking its rudos, Espectro is part of the 'atomicos del terror' team, and that team is Viper's rival, so it makes no sense to have him with Cibernetico.
1.-Very slow paced fall, the end comes when Heavy does a plancha on Pentagon and Espectro quits to a half crab from Octagon, while Ciber goes away.
2.-Still, the match is pretty slow, just like the first fall, with some planchas but that's about it. Action speeds up when the rudos start brawling, Niño de la Calle is at ringside, Espectro jr is fighting with Alebrije, Niño goes there and throws water to Espectros face, Alebrije does a full nelson bridge pin and gets the win, Tropicasas was looking at Niño when he throwed the water but he did not gave the DQ (he should be suspended as he never looks the tecnicos cheats). Ciber is not happy with Espectro and starts kicking him, Abismo arrives and joins Ciber, but they're out numbered when the rest of the Atomicos del Terror make the save, but at the same time, the Viperes get into the ring, finally, Payasos also show there, so a big brawling which took almost as long as the actual match.
Comments.- This was an average offer by AAA, maybe, because the show was taped in Edo. Mex., they could not have the extreme style they usually do, as the DF comision might argue... or maybe I did not liked this that much because the card here in Torreon was much better. Anyway, the Payasos and Chivas and Espectros showed, so we can see that AAA has a good roster, even if I think Batos Locos are way better than Payasos or Espectros, maybe the Batos will keep working in the north.
CMLL/EMLL from Arena Mexico.-
***Mexico's Heavyweight championship match: Cien Caras vs Rayo de Jalisco jr.- This is from Arena Coliseo, a follow up to the previous week match.
1.-They trade some hits, shoulderblocks and dropkicks, and after a 'tope en reversa' (reverse tope) and a guillotine leg drop, Rayo pins Cien Caras for the first fall.
2.-Somehow, the rudo is dominating (they edited parts of this fall), Rayo manages to take the offense, but after a missed 'tope en reversa' and a inverse bear hug by Caras (which made some think about a tombstone) Rayo loses the secon fall.
3.- Pretty much the same moves they always do, and Rayo wins with a small package.
postmatch: More talking about Mask vs Hair match, but no definitive date is anounced.
***Halcon Negro, Ultimo Guerrero and Zumbido vs Olimpico, Mr Aguila and Tony Rivera.- Olimpico and Halcon Negro are THE undercard feud for now, this rudo team is the one which impressed me a couple of weeks ago, so I was looking forward to it since I saw the card on 'Box y Lucha' magazine.
1.-Surprise! Rudos Brawl and Aguila and Tony are kicked out of the ring, Halcon rips Olimpico's mask open. Rudos commanding the fall, they perform Batos Locos-like three sided drop kicks on Mr Aguila (maybe I should say Papi Chulo), Tony Rivera and when trying to do it on Olimpico, Aguila and Zumbido were pulled down by the tecnicos and Olimpico performed a Hurracarana on Halcon to win the first fall.
2.-Tecnicos have the momentum of the match on their side, Rivera sends Zumbido out of the ring with a tijeras move, and then performs another tijeras from the apron onto the rudo who was in the floor. Rudos take the command of the match when they start triple teaming on each of the tecnicos, dropkicks from Halcon sends Olimpico down the ring and Zumbido and Ultimo lift with press-like move Halcon and drop him on the tecnico. Ultimo backdrops and pins Aguila, while Zumbido lifts Tony on his shoulders and performs a 'superstunner' move, I mean, he lifted and twisted Rivera so he did fall with his chest on Zumbido's shoulder, after that move, a powerbomb and pin followed... Halcon kept brawling with Olimpico.
3.-Rudos were still leading the match, most of this fall had Olimpico vs Halcon, the tecnico was then bleeding, I guess he was cut when brawling down the ring... Zumbido and Ultimo enter some times to double team on Tony or Aguila, Olimpico reacts and tecnicos recover by brawling, Olimpico dominates Halcon until the rudo punches Olimpico's tight, Morales claims it was a foul, Zumbido dropkicks Aguila who went to the floor, Zumbido runs and climbs in the middle turnbuckle and jumps out of the ring in a cross press plancha, in the ring, Rivera pins Ultimo with a Hurracarana, but then submits to Halcon's chicken (falcon?) swing, Olimpico faces Halcon once again, they battle a while, Olimpico goes to the turnbuckles to do a plancha, but Halcon meets him ther and does a side arm drag to pin and win the match. Halcon asks for a title shot.
Really good match, maybe it lacked from the tecnico's trademark high flying moves, but it had a lot more of wrestling than most matches nowdays, Halcon might win the belt on the next show, and the masks match might be close (Olimpico might win that one).
***Apolo Dantes (stone cold), Mascara Año 2000 and Gran Markus jr vs Atlantis, Lizmark and Emilio Charles jr.- It's Lizmark return, he has said that he will wrestle for another year and then retires, so this might be his last season in activity. Markus and Mascara are teaming now, even if the angle might be Markus and Pierroth feuding with los dinamitas.
1.- Quick fall with rudo brawling and winning easy.
2.- Very long second fall, started with the tecnicos brawling but they did not managed to get the win quick, they went back and forth, utill Atlantis performed a tope on Mascara, and Lizmark did a good tope dive from the top tunrbuckle into the ring on Markus to pin him.
3.- Lizmark did a tope just like Atlantis' in the previous fall and that was about it, Emilio pins Mascara with a small package and is awarded the mathc.
***Satanico, Fuerza Guerrera and Scorpio vs La Fiera, Negro Casas and Felino.- Like AAA, CMLL has a lot of rudos right now, most of the tecnicos have steady action, while rudos are going and coming, for instance, Blue Panther, Black Warrior, Villano III and Dr Wagner have been missing this last weeks. Now, Satanico is back in the main event, they announced a hair match of him vs Negro on the oct 19 in Puebla, so I guess this is like a preview.
1.-Satanico and La Fiera trade holds for about half an hour... then Negro enters and trades holds with Satanico for a short time, as Scorpio and Fuerza finally start the brawling. Scorpio does a powerbomb on Negro, next, puts Casas sittin on the top turnbuckle and delivers a backdrop...
Negro submits to Scorpio... after the backdrop, Casas seems to be hurt... again?
2.- Rudos brawling, eventually, Felino and Fiera react, tecnicos brawling, Satanico reacts, tecnicos and rudos trade moves for a while, Scorpio performs a side-powerbomb (similar to Wrath's meltdown -from WCW) to Negro, he goes for it a second time, but Casas reverses it into a reverse DDT! Tecnicos win the fall with Felino doing a 'quebradora' on Fuerza Guerrera (a Torture Rack) and Satanico submited by Fiera.
3.-Action slows down again, once again, brawling errupts, tecnicos set the rudos for a 'estrella' Negro rides on Scorpio for a huracarana but the rudo reverses into a backdrop, Felino connects a side plancha, and Negro pins Scorpio with 'la casita'.
I like the way Negro is using 'la casita' as a finisher again, some time ago, everyone used it... By the way, Yañes said that 'la casita' is also know as 'la magistral', I've read about 'la magistral' move on some japanese wretling reports, so I guess it is the same pin move, I'll keep calling it 'la casita' as it is credited to Pepe 'Tropicasas' Casas (now AAA referee and father of Negro, Heavy Metal and Felino), of course, Casas means houses, and Casita means small house.
Comments.-
After several weeks having Santo injured, he finally takes a break, also missing was Pierroth, why? I don't know, he was booked there, but did not show. The CMLL show was not bad, but it had little to do in the way of advancing storylines.
