***Relevos increibles- Alda Moreno and Miss Janeth vs Xochitil Hamada and Rosy Moreno. This is a hair match, the losing team members face each other to one fall and the loser loses her hair. Before the match they ran an angle in which the tecnicas throw the rudas into a lake, they have hyped this match quite well for a women's battle.
Tag team fall.- Alda and Rosy face off first, with some OK moves untill an armdrag sends the older sister down the ring and Hamada enters to get pinned by Alda, but at the 2 count kicks off, Rosy re enters and with a little help from Janeth, Alda does a 'perfect'plex to a 2 count pin on her sister. Rosy argued something with Janeth and Alda used the opportunity to make another pin, but Rosy escaped, and then reverses a suplex attempt into one of her own and goes for the pin, Janeth has to make the save and she and Rosy trade some pin attempts. All four women are in the ring and Alda and Janeth send down her foes, to perform a couples of simultaneous planchas. Janeth's tope is a little short but Alda connects a good back-plancha.
They battle outside the ring and Xochitl and Rosy get the better of it, and back at the mat, try the pins, but her opponents kick out, then, Rosy and Xochitl go to the opposing topturnbuckles, but end in a pair of superflexes. Alda and Janeth can't get the pin and then go to the topturnbuckles, but are 'powerbombed', a series of missed planchas and sentones later, Janeth connects a dropkick from the topturnbuckle to then apply a suplex with bridge pin to beat Rosy, while Alda does a hurracarana pin which started as a frankestainer. Rosy and Xochitl for the hair next!!
Rosy Moreno vs Xochitl Hamada hair vs hair match.- Alda stays ringside to support her sister, but Miss Janeth is gone. This fall got less wrestling than the tag, but was good. Rosy starts dominating and slamming the ruda to a post, she and Alda get a couple of chairs (plastic) and Rosy gives a shot at Hamada, who starts bleeding (a job?), back in the ring, some head butts can't get the pin for Moreno, next she goes for what looked like a hurracarana, and I thought that Xochitl might do a powerbomb, but instead, Rosy just forced the ruda to fall back in a hard slam, still, she could not get the pin... Alda entred the ring with a chair, but accidently, shot her own sister, after slamming the chair in Alda, Xochitl powerbombed Rosy, and then gave a guillotin leg drop from the top rope on Rosy to score the win and earn the hair.
Alda tried to get the forgiveness from Rosy, but her older sister was very mad at her, and attacked her throwing handfulls of hair at her, Janeth returned and Alda offered her hand to Rosy, but as Xochitil did the same, Rosy slapped Alda and raised her hand with Xochitil's, since she is ruda now, as the three rudas stomped the short Alda.
But now is two to one, and the tecnicos starts slamming Abismo and punish him with the chair, both of them attempt the escape, and Blue Demon gets out, but Heavy gets punched by Kickboxer and he is left in the cage with Abismo, who now has the lighter and aerosol can handed by Tirantes. Abismo flames Heavy but Abismo is in bad shape.
Meanwhile, outside the cage, there is a brawl with Tirantes and Kickboxer vs Huicho and his 'bodyguards'. Heavy has Abismo controlled, but soon uses his can to flame him again. Outside, Kickboxer uses the handcuffs on Demon and then on 'Dollar', so el Tirantes chases Huicho with a chair, but Octagon cames to help Huicho, and Tirantes ends receiving the chair shots.
In the cage, Heavy seems to be getting the upper hand, but most of the action is ommited because they're busy showing Huicho and Tirantes, Heavy Metal makes a 'reverse' desnucadora, and then gets fouled while trying a tombstone, Abismo tryies to escape, but is unable to do it, and Octagon has freed Blue Demon, Abismo is once againg trying to go out, but he gets his face bruned by Demon with an aerosol, Heavy press slams Abismo and gets out of the ring, winning the match.
So now the tecnicos at last get their vengance, and Tirantes has to become Huicho's slave for a week.
EMLL
***Black Warrior, Blue Panther and Violencia vs Olimpico, La Fiera and Brazo de Plata (superporky).-first fall.- It seems that the first fall was too long and they edited a big part of it, it starts with Panther and Olimpico trading holds, and then, they keep trading holds and the end of the fall comes as La Fiera dominates Violencia and Panther gets a plancha from Brazo de Plata (who is as wide as he is tall). So the rudos lost the first fall.
Second fall.- Blue Panther stages the comeback punishing La Fiera and then Brazo, Black Warrior does a high-elevated plancha on the Olimpico, but refuses to pin him, Black suplexes Olimpico to the outside acces ramp, which goes to the lockers, but is in the same height as the ring, next, Warrior legdrops Olimpico, as the fall has ended with la Fiera summiting and Brazo counted out.
Third fall.- The rudos keep with good teamwork, but eventually they leave Panther against Brazo, Panther bodyslams porky but seems to get too much out of his strenght (porky is aobout 310 punds while Panther should be below 200) La Fiera kicks Panther in the face and the tecnicos are back on the match, as both Warrior and Panther gets splashed to the corner by Brazo and Olimpico does a pringboard out of the ring plancha on Violencia, and Brazo uses a 'perfect'plex to pin Blue Panther and get the win.
***Ultimo Guerrero, Karloff Lagarde jr and Rey Bucanero vs Blue Blazer jr, Shocker and one of the Batos Locos, actually, it is mr Aguila!!! But he quit his old image and now he LOOKS like one of the Batos Locos... on a side note, the Panther/Warrior... match was on Arena Mexico, while this seems to be the main event of a card in the Arena Coliseo.
First fall.- Mr Aguila has just lost his mask to Guerrero, and he is not happy with that, they engage in the first face off... they get some good moves and then, Rey Bucanero and Blue Blazer get into the action, the original Blazer was Owen Hart, but this is not him, that is clear... anyway, the Guerrero de la Muerte vs Mr Aguila has to be the undercard feud of the year, maybe of several years... they really shine here. The tecnicos get this fall with Karloff quitting to Shocker's standing side-backbreaker, and Blazer powerslaming Bucanero.
Second Fall.- Both teams alternate the control of this fall, all of this luchadores are fairly good, and some have potential to become huge stars... someday.Guerrero tries to splash Aguila in a corner but Aguila dodges, and the rudo goes out of the ring, Aguila follows him but the rest of the rudos run into him and he gets kicked and stomped, and is left laying there, then, the rudos get into the ring and with a powerbomb and a drop to the knee, they score the second fall .
Third Fall.- The rudos keep the momentum of the second fall on, and for a while, punish the tecnicos, until, once again, Guerrero misses a splash and goes out of the ring, Mr Aguila does his flip-half spin plancha on the rudo, and the tecnicos after a couples of moves that send the other rudos out of the ring, they signal a double tope dive, but instead, they take turns at doing cross planchas. So once again, it is Mr Aguila and Guerrero in the ring, Aguila performs a 'stunner' and then a slam and goes to the third rope, but Guerrero slaps his legs and he falls on the ropes, in which might have been a foul, but after a suplex, Guerrero kicks Aguila in the tight, and he gets DQ, I don't know if the referees thought it was an ilicit kick or because of the previous move.
***Halcon Negro, Valentin Mayo, and Arcangel vs Solar I, Tigre Blanco and Brazo de Oro.- This match is also from the Arena Coliseo, I don't know if this was after or before the one with Aguila and Guerrero or even if they both were on the same card...
First fall.- The first fall had some ok moves and ended with the tecnicos victory, but somehow, this battle seems less interesting that the others they've been showing, I don't know if they might try to push any of these luchadores... Solar seemed headed to become a huge star some years back, but now it seems he has fallen short.
The second fall was awarded to the rudos as they took over brawling and pinned Solar with a powerbomb + plancha, and counting out the other two tecnicos. The last fall had the rudos still in command until the unavoidable tecnicos reaction, in which they won the match with Brazo using a 'sharpshooter' or 'cruzeta con medio cangrejo' on Halcon Negro and Mayo suffering from another sumision hold.
This was not bad by any mean (aside from the fact that the rudos lost), but I guess it missed any heat to make it more interesting, as most of this wrestlers need to work mainly in their 'characters', even if their skills are better, or at least, they show them better than the guys in AAA, they still are uneventfull...
***Felino, Negro Casas and Hijo del Santo vs Scorpio jr, Fuerza Guerrera and Dr Wagner jr- Now back at the Arena Mexico, with a high caliber match, Felino and Casas are brothers, and I was somehow expecting Felino to turn on his teammates, as in early September, Santo missed a tope and hit Felino (his partner) in an arena in Cuernavaca (?), and Felino joined the rudos there...
First fall.-As in any of the match with Santo on it, the match was too fas and too intence (does not mean that it was one the greates) to describe it here, I don't know where has Dr Wagner been, but he should have been working hard, as it looks as if he has dropped some weight, but still, he is a great wrestler, the tecnicos get the first fall with Felino Powerbombing Scorpio, and Santo with a diving tope into the mat from the top rope on Fuerza who then gets in la de a caballo.
Second Fall.-Wagner tried to go away when both of his partners were out of the first fall, but the tecnicos took him into the ring and performed several fast kicks and dropkicks before the second fall could start. At last, a brawl errupts and the rudos are back, Wagener and Negro are battling in the ramp, while Santo and Scorpio are down the ring and Fuerza and Felino keep fighting inside the ring. Wagner slams Negro and then applies a clothline before taking back to the ring and forcing him to quit with a hold (la universal) and Scorpio pins Santo.
Last fall.-The rudos keep handling the tecnicos and have some chances to pin Negro, but Wagner won't do it, he takes him to the ramp and tries to do a bodyslam, but he is the one who gets slammed, while the other Tecnicos are also back, Negro kicks Wagner's head and performs... a DDT! The tecnicos are now in charge, Felino is on top of a corner and seems he's getting powerbombed by Fuerza, but he changes it into a sunsetflip pin, but Wagners makes the save and does a Michin... no, a Juvi... no, hell, a Wagnerdriver on Felino which takes him out of the battle. Felino was not pinned as Negro made the save, but Wagner catchs his leg and slams him to a side, Scorpio tries a clothline on Negro as he was held by Wagner, but Negro gets off and Wager gets the hit and falls down the ring, Negro forces Scorpio down and Santo does his double tope move, first hitting Scorpio from the top turnbuckle, next hitting Wagner. Negro pins Scorpio for the win.
***Main event, hair match, Riki Santana and Boricua vs Mascara Año Dos Mil and Emilio Charles.- I hope this is the last in the saga of the Mexico vs Puerto Rico feud, if not, I might just quit lucha...not.
Chales and Mascara 2-1 win the match, actually, it was not as bad as I could have guessed, but I mean, who is Santana and who is Boricua? and most importantly, who cares? Most of the battle had no tags, just all four of the participants going back and forth, the boricuans get the first fall, and the mexican even and then beat the caribeans. Mascara beated one of the boricuans in the last fall, but he got fouled and pined and Charles mad the final pin to get the boricuans bald...
What is going to happen with Mr. Aguila? He is a great promise... but how is he going to do without his mask... no one knows, he did really looked as a Bato Loco, with the face make up and a Metallica t shirt (Batos uses KISS shirts, save Mason, Heavy D and Sangre). It seems many of the public was upset with the change in the outfit, commentators said he should wrestle with his old gimmick for some time, and then, as his face is know by most of the fans, take the makeup... interesting enough, he might become rudo (yes!), the feud with Ultimo Guerrero helped both to get a big push, but I guess they could end up as partners and start feuding with someone else... so that both go up in the card, they could be a great rudo tag team.
All in all EMLL continues with solid wrestling, they are doing video clips with angles, but some of them are terrible, and I guess most of the mexican fans are not used to see the luchadores in those kind of 'interviews'. I guess CMLL needs to tighten the feuds and angles to make their match more exiting, they have some good talent, and many old timers who still get the top spot, my better hopes would be to have most of the older luchadores start having masks matchs, I mean, Villano vs Atlantis, Fuerza vs Felino, Santo and Scorpio or Wagner and Rayo or Universo 2000, they have stablished careers and losing their mask now won't be as bad as losing them 15 years ago, plus they can generate enough interest to get some fans who had quitted back... just my opinion, of course.
AAA.- On the other hand, seems to be successfull, and I am not that happy, I guess they have fond a formula that works: Using PAPSA characters and semi-extrime style lucha. With AAA owning the characters, they know they can keep them there for a long time, and if anyone should go, he could be replaced... but the down side of this is that the Mask vs Mask matches are almost impossible now, so they have to settle with cage, lumberjack, or chain matches, which is not as good for the mexican lucha.
They also seem to be using some storylines used in other promotions, Ciber is being 'fired' and he is going to another company (so why they say it, the other company should have to be competence...or no?), and using some 'mainstream' semicelebrities, as Brenan Twins and Huicho Dominguez is helping to gather heat, and fans, to the arenas.
I will take some space to write about the female scene in AAA, which, I consider is well done.
First, I guess everyone might agree with me if I say that neither AAA nor CMLL or any other current promotion is close to the lucha exitement, hype and quality AAA had in the mid 90's, or CMLL in the late 80's early 90's or LLI in the eighties... however, I don't think that in any of those times, the lady luchadoras had any real importance, surte, there were some feuds, but not very hyped... AAA is doing a good job with the luchadoras, the 'relevos increibles' was quite good, of course, I don't think it was as the Japan women feds, but considering the mexican and even US standards, this was very entertaining and fun, however, too short, with about 11 or maybe 12 minutes (one of those minutes was of rest between the tag and singles fall).
AAA finaly has stablished the femela 'circuit' something that most promotions (save the Japanese already reffered situation) can not do. My bet is that rather than trying to do some title or anything like that, AAA will go for the gang war approach as they had done with all of their talent. I was expecting Alda joining 'las Brujas', but it was Rosy who did, so they might start feuding with rudas trio, 'las mosqueteras' I am not sure, but the group included La Venus, La Briosa and (?) la Fugitiva. So then, more extreme-lucha? Maybe, but Alda and Saori might receive a big 'tecnicas' push, they're both small (especially Alda) and nice looking, so they might become fanfavorites soon...
In short, AAA should keep it up the hard work the luchadoras had been doing, they seem to be the only one who get involved in 'bet matches' with this 'relevos increibles' duel, and a cage-battle-royale last lady in the cage loses mask or hair (Lady Luxor lost and was revealed to be Saori). My advice would be to make those matches one fall only, three falls might be too much considering that they're working too hard.(I'm not trying to be a pig).
AAA is coming to Torreón is coming in October 17, I don't know if I'll go there or not, I would be more attracted to a CMLL-like card, with Blue Panther, Black Warrior, Ultimo Guerrero, Dr Wagner, Santo, Felino, Mr Aguila, etc. AAA with the extreme style might make it hard to see the action if the luchadores go out of the ring or even the arena... still, I don't know, I hope they show the card soon...
