When Robert Fraser, a legendary Mountie, is shot and killed in the Canadian wilderness, his son, Constable Benton Fraser, is the only one who seems to think Fraser, Sr.'s death warrants an investigation. Determined to apprehend the men responsible, Fraser, helped only by his deaf wolf, follows the trail to Chicago, Illinois, where he meets the detective assigned to the case. Detective Ray Vecchio doesn't think the 'dead Mountie' case deserves a formal investigation either, but he agrees to help Fraser on the side- an decision that lands him in the hospital and Fraser ordered back to Canada.
Back home, Fraser continues his search for the truth, and finally unearths a plot envolving a hydro- electric dam, a dirty Mountie, and a bunch of drowned caribou. Discovered, his father's killers decide Fraser is a liability as well and mark him for death. Ray arrives just in time, fresh out of the hospital and armed to the teeth. After a race between dogsled and snowmobiles, Fraser, Ray and a Native hunter defeat the assassins and bring the bad Mountie, Gerrard, to justice. Unfortunately, the justice includes Fraser being exiled- to Chicago, of all places.
Fraser and Ray help a young thief named Willie prove he wasn't responsible for the 'knocking-over' of an insurance firm when a gun in the kid's possession turns out to be the one used in the robbery.
Fraser's been asked to help a young girl's father. His name is Charlie. Charlie's the fall guy for an insurance scam- he jumps in front of moving vehicles for a living. Unfortunately, what Charlie doesn't know is that his next fall might be his last. A young Chinese man is kidnapped outside his father's restaurant by members of the deadly Tong. The Tong want Mr. Lee, the boy's father, to accept a 'business deal'- if he doesn't, the boy dies. Fraser and Ray, who were in the restaurant at the time of the kidnapping, want to help, but they are shut out of the case by the FBI. Ray knows the Feds will bungle the case, so it's up to he and Fraser to find the boy. Unfortunately, all they have to go on is some sounds Fraser heard... Doowsh.. doowsh.. doowsh...
