About Siberian Huskies

The Siberian Husky is an independant, willful and intelligent dog. Aside from that, Sibes make great companions. The breed was originally developed by the Chukchi peoples of Siberia as a working animal, and because of this they are very active, desiring a good five hours of heavy exercise a day to keep in shape both mentally and phyiscally.

Running away, or roaming, is a big problem with most Sibes. The dogs can never be left alone in an unfenced yard, or even tied because they might chew through the restraint. They cannot be walked off-leash unless well trained and kept under-control at all times. Even trained Siberians bolt occasionally.

Sibes, like most Northern breeds, have a heavy double coat that sheds some all year round and is 'blown' twice a year(that means all the soft undercoat is lost at once).

The Sibe's wolf-like appearance and stunning variety of coat and eye patterns make it one of the most popular breeds in America.
