Trouble In Paradise

Later that night Taylor sat by the phone in his room getting ready to call Katrina and tell her the truth. His brother always told him that if he wasn't honest with a girl then the relationship would never last, and he knew he was right. He just didn't want to lose her. He dialed her number and listened as the phone rang in his ear.

"Hello?" said Katrina after the fourth ring.

"Hi, This is Tay" he said shakily.

"Hey Tay..What's going on?" she said in a whisper, which made Taylor think that her mother was in the room.

"Do you think you could meet me at the park?" he asked. He figured this way they could talk easier, and he didn't really want to tell her this over the phone anyways.

"Um, yeah I think so. I'll be there in five minutes."

"Thanks. See ya then. Bye Kat." and they hung up.

Taylor got to the park and saw Kat sitting on a swing swinging slowly back and forth playing with her feet in the sand. He walked up behind her and watched her for a second before saying anything.

"Hey" he said finally, she turned around and smiled at him. Then she got up and wrapped her arms around his neck hugging him and kissing him softly on his lips. He kissed her back and held her tightly to him. When they broke apart she noticed the worried expression he had on his face.

"Taylor, what's wrong?" she asked concerned.

"I need to talk to you about something, but I don't want you to say anything until you hear me out alright?" he said not looking her in the eyes. She was getting afraid, she didn't know what to think of all this.

"Ok" was all she said as she sat back down on her swing looking up at him. He had his face down and he was pacing back and forth

"Ok remember that day when you got the letter and the rose in your locker? Well, I know you remember it...anyways. You had the impression that I wrote the letter and sent you the rose, and I didn't do anything to make you believe otherwise, I even said I sent it to you. But...I didn't. See my friend John, he goes to your school, and um...I don't know how to say this. Basically, a couple of real assholes had a plan to play a joke on you and make a fool out of you infront of the whole school. I couldn't see that happen to someone, so I had to ruin their plan. So I told you that I wrote it, and then we went out, and I really got to know you. You were such a great person Katrina. I think it was all meant to be," as he finished he looked at her and saw that she had tears streaming down her cheeks. His heart instantly broke.

"I'm so sorry Katrina" is all he said and then he knelt down infront of her, she didn't say anything at first she just sat there and cried. When she finally spoke the words flowed out before she could even comprehend them.

"I knew this was too good to be true. The only reason you could possibly even associate with a person like me is out of pity. You know what Taylor? You are no better than any other guy that I have ever met, and no better than anyone else that has made fun of me over the years. Stupid me for thinking maybe you were different. I'm so sick of always playing the fool.." She just let all her emotions pour out. She had never stood up for herself before but now she had the strength to for some reason and their was no stopping it.

"I'm sorry Katrina, Please!" Taylor begged as tears started to fall down his cheeks too. The worst that could happen, was happening right before him and he didn't know how to stop it.

"No, Taylor. You lied!! I thought you were the guy who would finally change my life. I would finally have someone that actually cared about me! I was so dumb to think anything like that could happen to me. I never want to see you again!" she yelled at him and then got up off the swing, running away from him and out of his life.

Taylor just sat there on the ground and cried. Was she out of his life for good? He didn't know if he could handle that. He never meant to hurt her the way he did. And now she never wanted to see him again. His head was spinning, he got up and began to walk home, but he couldn't make it. His heart was beating so fast and his head felt like it weighed a ton. So he sat down next to a tree and was soon asleep before he could think another thought...Asleep in the park.
