Kalik, dubbed "The Beer of The Bahamas" is the number one selling beer
in the country and is popular with Bahamians and visitors alike.
The staff at Commonwealth Brewery Limited (CBL) views brewing Kalik
as a matter of national pride. Stemming from a historical agreement
in 1983, guided by Heinekens’ $30 million investment, CBL was established.
In 1984 the Bahamian Government gave official approval to have the brewery
located on the island of New Providence. Since this time CBL has
attained a brewing capacity of 1.7 million cases per annum.
In 1992 CBL introduced Kalik Gold, an extra strength beer,
in coincidence with the Quincentennial of The Bahamas.
In March of 1998 the newest member of the Kalik family,
Kalik Light, was launched. Also in 1998, in recognition of the 25th
Anniversary of The Bahamas Independence, a redesigned bottle was introduced
with an embossed logo of Kalik appearing just below the bottles neck.
