Magdalena Edwards


Magdalena Edwards will receive her Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from UCLA in June 2007. Her dissertation research centers on Elizabeth Bishop, travel, translation, and the creative process. In 1999 she received her B.A. in Social Studies from Harvard University, where she wrote a thesis on the Chilean poet Raul Zurita's first book of poems, Purgatorio (1975), published a few years after Pinochet came into power. Over the years, she has studied with Henri Cole, Peter Sacks, and Stephen Yenser, and she is curently working on a collection of poems titled Dirt, Clean, and Between.
