Gary Fincke


Gary Fincke is Professor of English and Director of the Writers' Institute at Susquehanna University in the Central Pennsylvania river town of Selinsgrove.

Acclaim for Fincke's work includes Poetry's Bess Hokin Prize in 1991 for four poems--"The Hunza Dream," "The Conversation of Elephants," "Reaching the Deaf," and "The Stuttering Cures"--which appeared in Poetry's April and August 1991 issues. Fincke won a Pushcart Prize in 1995 for "The Era of the Vari-Vue" which originally appeared in Oxford Magazine. His work has appeared in a number of highly regarded and widely distributed periodicals including Harper's, Doubletake, The Southern Review, The Paris Review, The Kenyon Review and The Missouri Review.
